I specialize in trauma counselling, particularly in the areas of sexual abuse, childhood abuse & neglect, and intimate partner violence.
You've felt the weight of expectations to conform to other’s standards of who you “should” be for as long as you can remember. It might feel extra draining as the pressure comes from multiple sources- perhaps from family, friends, religion, school, or society. You’re fed up with spinning in the same circles and experiencing the same internal conflict; parts of you are done with feeling unseen and misunderstood, while other parts of you have concerns about being a burden or have fears about being perceived. Together, let's create a space where you don't need anyone's approval or to be anything other than exactly who you are.

I believe that when people understand their emotions they can take control of their life. Life is meant to be enjoyed-healing our wounds allows us to have fun and live fully. Building emotional strength means accepting you will experience emotions, they will impact you, and you can ride the wave.

Our counsellors use an integration of various trauma-informed, relational, and client-centred approaches that are situated in feminist, anti-oppressive and social justice principles.
*Services by student counsellors and Associates available* People we work with describe feeling disconnected, invalidated, and powerless after experiencing trauma and injustice. Some have felt stuck and overwhelmed in the process of reconnecting with themselves, their communities, and in navigating the dominant culture. We support clients in processing their experiences and deepening their understanding of themselves and their relationships. We affirm clients' needs and desires and value reciprocity and collaboration. Honoring clients' knowledge, we invite clients to co-create safety and exercise their self-determination.

It takes a lot of courage to reach out for support, especially when facing challenges that feel deeply personal and unique to your experiences. As a Queer Indigenous therapist, I understand the complexities of navigating identity and the impact it can have on mental well-being. Whether you're wrestling with ancestral trauma, struggling to find your place in an unwelcoming world, or simply seeking understanding, I'm here for you. Imagine stepping into a space where every aspect of your identity isn't just acknowledged but celebrated. Where your journey of self-discovery is met with understanding, compassion, and validation.

I work with people navigating a range of experiences relating to: Birth and lifespan development; Sense of Self; Emotional and somatic awareness and expression; Integration and embodiment; Trauma resolution and personal growth; and Rites of passage and psychospiritual transformation.
Just as a seed will grow into a plant, and a plant will seek water and grow towards light, there is an intrinsic capacity within all living organisms to heal and to grow, and a natural inclination to move in this direction. My practice is guided by trust in the wisdom of this inner healing intelligence. I am a holistic practitioner working in the realms of transpersonal psychotherapy and birth care, with a focus on human attachment, lifespan development, and spiritual care "from womb to tomb." Birth psychology and work with holotropic states of consciousness are areas of special interest.

Hi and welcome! I appreciate that it takes courage and strength to start this process. Sometimes, we need help to work through issues. You don't have to deal with your struggles, questions, grief, anxiety, depression, and all of life’s other servings alone. In a non-judgmental, confidential and safe space, shifts can begin to take place. I utilize various modalities, but always come from a person-centered, trauma-informed, and compassion focused lens. I believe in the strength and resilience in every person, and that includes you! Your story matters. You matter…and you deserve healing and happiness.

If you're struggling with repressed trauma, substance abuse, anxiety, depression, grief, relationships, or life transitions, these are areas we can work through together.
I help people learn to forgive themselves for the things they had to do in order to survive. I believe that when we feel safe in our body and free from the shackles of our past, we can create our dream reality. By honouring our sensitive nature, and creating a safe space to explore, we can set our inner child free - inviting playfulness, humour, and curiosity to the healing process. We are not what has happened to us, we are who we choose to become. I'm here to help you discover who you truly are on a soul level.

In my therapeutic practice, I offer non-judgemental and compassionate support to my clients struggling with various forms of trauma and other obstacles impacting their quality of life. I specialize in Expressive Art Therapy, which invites clients to engage in a combination of talk, writing, visual arts, movement, and other forms of creative and alternative self-expression. Many people struggle with articulating traumatic experiences through words alone, and using creative modes of communication creates a safe and more fluid environment to explore complicated feelings and emotions.

I have experience with issues ranging from daily stressors to recent or historical trauma - often identifying imbalances in one's spiritual, mental, physical, and emotional worlds.
If you are looking for that "safe place" to share without judgment or criticism, look no further. I know first-hand how difficult it can be to open up to someone about life's most private issues and challenges - as well as how much relief and peace can come after doing so. Whether you desire to quickly resolve a current issue or obstacle, or hope to identify and overcome some deeper, longer-standing issues that are preventing a full and satisfying life, together we can help you get there with YOU as expert of your own life!

Trauma and PTSD Counsellors

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
