Accepting new patients! Are you tired of stressing out over calories, berating yourself every time you mess up, or feeling like you’re about to crumble at any second? Do you feel guilty after eating? At this point, maybe it’s hard to even remember a time you didn’t feel like this. But one thing is for sure: you’re ready for some relief. You’re ready to eat out without shaming yourself. You’re ready to find joy in the day-to-day again. Most of all, you’re ready to heal your relationship with your body and yourself. You’re ready for a new “normal,” and I can help you get there.

There are times in this generation that a heavy work load, childcare responsibilities, travel, and life make it extremely difficult to come in for face to face therapy in the office.
Ideally, I try to create a comfortable environment so that the client can feel a connection. I realize that one of the hardest things to do as a person, is to admit that you need to talk a problem through with someone outside of your circle of family and friends. When meeting with the client, I try to distinguish where they are and go above and beyond to make the therapeutic process a success.

Brainspotting/EMDR trained, I approach therapy with a humanistic mindset, focused on developing insight to overcome the barriers that are preventing you from fully living life.
Opening up around the vulnerable and intimate details of our lives can be very uncomfortable. There is so much pressure to be “happy”, “better”, or “perfect”, while receiving messaging that being anything else is unacceptable. We are very adaptive yet often struggle to effectively get our needs met, so may engage in avoidance behaviors and withhold or internalize our feelings to try to prevent things from getting worse. You want to feel more like your true self and get more satisfaction out of your relationships. You need an unconditionally supportive, non-judgmental, creative, and humorous therapist who accepts you however you are.

Sometimes life presents challenges that we simply can't power through, think our way out of, or escape from, no matter how hard we try.
You're here because you've tried talking to friends and family; you've tried self-help books and podcasts; you've tried meditation and exercise…you’ve maybe even tried therapy before. You've tried to do it alone. And yet, here you are still struggling with anxiety or your mood; struggling with your relationships; struggling as a parent; struggling in your profession, your sport or your craft. Your worries don’t stop, you imagine the worst, somehow you never feel good enough no matter what you accomplish. You are not alone! More importantly, it’s not your fault! I have been there as have all of my clients.

I use a non-judgmental approach to therapy as you are the expert of your own life.
I have worked in the field of substance abuse and mental health since 2014; extensive experience working with athletes, adolescents, college students, and young professionals. Most recently I've worked with parents, families, and couples to help manage the emotional struggles of the family system. I'm wrapping up my credentialing as a Certified Arise Interventionist so I can share my passion with families coping with a loved one's addiction. Ideal client's might be teenagers who are feeling stuck, college aged males who are unsatisfied in life or family members needing support with boundaries and detachment.

Your treatment has a beginning, middle & end. I am trained and certified in many of the latest breakthrough treatments including EMDR and Brainspotting. I use these modalities because I have found them to be the most effective. The field of psychotherapy has come a long way since it began. We now know that it doesn't have to take as long as previously believed for permanent healing and change to take place. The term "neuroplasticity" refers to the brain's ability to change and rewire itself at any age or stage of life. Too often, clients participate in years of talk therapy and medication management without results.

I focus mostly on helping clients address and resolve issues that are disrupting a satisfying personal and/or family life.
As a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW-C) in practice for nearly twenty years, I have had the opportunity and privilege to work collaboratively with clients to help them develop greater insight into their relationships, communication patterns, and limiting narratives. For more than a decade I have worked in private practice. Previously, I have had experience working in an intensive outpatient program (IOP), school setting, and community mental health agency. I have an undergraduate degree in Psychology from The University of Michigan and a Master of Social Work degree from the National Catholic School of Social Service.

Over the past 20 years, I've had the opportunity to work with children and adolescents. In the last 10 years I've increased my scope to include young and older adults. Anxiety, depression, trauma and other behavioral challenges have made up the majority of my work. In each of these situations a strength-based, goal-centric and client-empowered approach has yielded success. In my experience my clients have simply wanted to feel better about their place in life while re-learning to hope once again. My work in schools and in practice have taught me that my success begins from a place of genuine care for my client's well-being.

Life Coaching Therapists

What can I expect from life coaching?

Clients and coaches will typically start by identifying the problem area(s) that the client hopes to address—then, the coach will help the client brainstorm potential solutions and explore concrete techniques to help the client attain their goals. Coaching is typically short-term and focused on finding solutions in the here and now, rather than exploring a client’s past. In addition to strategies aimed at the client’s specific concerns, coaches may encourage general stress management techniques such as meditation.

Can a life coach help treat anxiety?

Because the majority of life coaches are not licensed clinicians, they are not qualified to diagnose or treat anxiety. Anyone struggling with anxiety or another mental health condition should seek help from a licensed mental health practitioner. However, some coaching clients who struggle with subclinical anxiety report that working with their coach on other problems—such as career dissatisfaction or unhealthy habits—has a positive effect on their anxiety.

Can life coaching be done online?

Yes. While life coaching often happens in person, many coaches conduct sessions over the phone or via online platforms such as Zoom or Skype. Because life coaches are not subject to local licensing regulations in the same way that therapists are, they are able to see clients who live in other locations.

How long does life coaching last?

Life coaching tends to be a shorter-term process than therapy, though it does not always unfold over a specific period of time and is instead based on the coach’s or the client’s preferences. Coaching often takes place over three to 12 months but may be shorter or longer if necessary.
