I have experience in many modalities, from CBT, DBT, EMDR, and somatic therapy approaches.
My ideal client aims to engage in an active partnership to build self-awareness and take action to make a change. I will give you feedback and challenge you, which is not everyone’s cup of tea! I work best with those suffering from anxiety, panic attacks, overwhelm, trauma, or emotional flooding. Many of my clients report that our work helped them shift from survival mode to a sense of thriving. I suggest homework; your progress is based on your willingness to practice. The ideal client for my strengths is someone who wants to learn and shift by discovering tangible skills and techniques they can use in their own lives.

We can help you reconnect to yourself and others through a variety of techniques including art therapy, somatic therapy, "parts work", sand tray therapy, and more!.
Breakups suck. You can't get the thoughts about this person out of your head, and you keep wondering whether you were the problem, whether the relationship was all a mistake, or if they were truly the love of your life that you let slip through your fingers. This breakup is making you doubt if you are worthy of love at all and bringing up painful feelings about yourself and your past that you would rather forget. When you are single you just feel so alone, but you so deeply want to be able to heal, to take this breakup as an opportunity to move forward and finally learn to be okay with being by yourself.

Therapy offers an opportunity for cultivating safety, security, and steadiness within ourselves and in our relationships. Through a warm and patient presence, gentle curiosity, and deep compassion, I hope to offer you a sturdy container within which you can practice vulnerability and explore a full range of feelings. I hold an awareness that our pain, grief, anger, joy, and pleasure live in our bodies, and I believe paying attention to what happens in our bodies can increase our insight and agency. Integrating somatic and mindfulness practices into our work together supports this connection between body and mind.

I utilize an integrative approach and use techniques from various modalities including, psychodynamic, CBT, somatic, and mindfulness-based approaches.
I am a licensed clinical psychologist, specializing in the treatment of trauma, addiction, depression, grief/loss, and emotional dysregulation. When your coping mechanisms are no longer sufficient, and you're feeling overwhelmed, unhappy, anxious, or disconnected, therapy is an opportunity to learn how to increase your ability to manage life's demands, improve your quality of life, and achieve the change you are looking for. Therapy will begin with a conversation about your hopes for our work. Together we will deepen our understanding of your concerns, and establish new ways of feeling and being in the world.

Using mindful, somatic psychology (and shamanic energy if you wish), we'll facilitate deeper, more lasting healing so that you can live and embody your full potential.
Deep feelers and highly sensitive ones, you and I will explore more deeply together than in traditional talk therapy. You’ve likely tried psychotherapy before but have noticed that the work has either gone nowhere or taken you only so far, or you felt misunderstood. With an uncanny and intuitive ability to really “get” people from many walks of life, I will invite you to go beneath your thoughts, connect with your body and emotions, and gently access the root of your emotional discomfort and hurts to facilitate noticeable shifts with each session.

I am a psychotherapist specializing in the treatment of complex trauma and PTSD. I believe in creating a relatable and safe space to work through the toughest parts of our past. While some trauma is overt, such as PTSD, other traumas can be hidden behind depression or anxiety. Emotional traumas can even arise from being raised by parents or guardians with personality disorders. I have over 10 years of experience using EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and somatic interventions to address various forms of trauma.

There are so many reasons to seek out therapy. Maybe you have been in therapy for years, maybe this is your first time. Whatever the reason or your experience, I am glad that you are here. Therapy can be a brave space that we build to reflect on what is happening for you, to process the road that led you here and to set in place obtainable, sustainable response strategies. To do so, we will incorporate a blend of somatic and psychodynamic therapies to unpack current, historical and intergenerational traumas.

I am committed to providing a holistic treatment approach and understand that the healing process involves the body, brain, and connecting with others, so I incorporate somatic practices and collaborate with caregivers.
Does your child lack motivation? Does your child constantly seem sad or angry? Are they having challenges managing their behavior and emotions at school or home? You are not alone. Throughout America, there are an estimated 15 million children and adolescents in need of therapy and concerned caregivers are seeking professional support. Let me support you and your family. My goal as a therapist is to support children, teens, young adults and families in developing the skills needed to cope appropriately with depression, anxiety, grief, behavioral challenges, and trauma.

I also integrate elements of somatic therapy, cognitive behavioral (CBT), and contextual therapy.
I love working with all different kinds of people, and I’ll always start with your family (yep, that's your childhood!). I specialize in attachment work. This can help kids/teens and their parents, couples stuck in a cycle of conflict or disconnect, and individuals experiencing anxiety or depression - especially around big life transitions. Folks who come to me (and who stay the longest) are ready to do the deeper work in their lives. They aren't looking for a quick fix - they are looking to truly understand the systems they're a part of, and the agency they have in their own lives to create change.

It is easy to feel stuck. It is easy to believe you can't feel better. Let me show you a different way. My name is Malinda Myers. I believe that mental health is health, and just like we get physical injuries, we can get mental ones as well. I use attachment theory, embodiment and somatic healing as some of the ways to help you heal. I draw on Bessel van der Kolk, Gabor Mate and Stephen Porges for much of my inspiration and guidance in sessions.

I come from queer and liberation therapy perspectives to utilize Gestalt relational and somatic therapy, as well as psychodynamic, mindfulness, and EMDR therapies.
I work most often with people who have been pushed to the margins, including trans, non-binary and queer people, autistic and other neurodivergent people, and people who have survived traumatic events and relationships. I enjoy working with organizers, activists, and artists. I tend to be a good fit for clients experiencing shame, despair, isolation and existential dread. As a trans woman myself, I have experienced both the harms of misguided psychotherapy and the healing that can come from a co-created and trusting therapeutic relationship.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
