I enjoy getting to know my clients from the very beginning, in order to focus our counseling work on what best fits each person, family, or couple. I believe in establishing a strong, flexible, and collaborative therapeutic relationship as the foundation for positive work with clients. I am comfortable working with clients through a variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, grief, relationship and/or family counseling, self-confidence and identity struggles, life transitions, feeling "stuck" in life, and much more. I am also open to including topics of spirituality in our counseling work, for any clients who are interested.

Are you ready to conquer your worries, relationship concerns and emotional issues such as depression and anxiety?.
The idea of seeking therapy can be a scary process. That’s why as a therapist I always meet my clients where they are in their therapeutic process. I take on a team approach to let my client know that they aren’t alone. Together we can accomplish many obstacles.

(Individualized Educational Plan and Behavioral Plans), relationship, depression and self-esteem.
Throughout life, it is possible to find ourselves on a journey we believe is impossible to complete. Through therapy, we learn that no journey is impossible; however sometimes we must detour...delay...revisit...or speed up! This analogy speaks to the true essence of therapy, helping others to navigate obstacles that present themselves along their journey. I will partner with you to find your path to a healthy existence despite any detours you encounter.

I specialize in helping people living with trauma, anxiety, dysphoria, neurodiversity, and relationship difficulties.
Sometimes we all need somebody to genuinely meet us where we are at in life with radical acceptance and compassion for who we are and where we want to go from here. But searching for the right person to connect with can be a daunting prospect, especially if you or your loved ones have been met with societal rejection and systematic oppression. As such, my primary goal in therapy is to cultivate an inclusive, warming environment where you can safely and freely express your authentic self, which is why you deserve to know a little about me as well.

Emotional distress takes many forms: low self esteem, depression, anxiety, chronic anger, and/or relationship problems are some of the reasons people come to therapy. Some people who see me are having a difficult time with a life transition or have been unable to bounce back from a significant loss. Some have a history of being traumatized in ways that still impact them, or have problematic and unproductive ways of coping with life's difficulties.

Also informed by emotionally focused therapy for couples, and the Gottman Method, I help couples quickly identify small changes that can result in significant improvement in the quality of their communication and relationship.
Being a human being can be quite challenging! There's a saying about the mind: 'the mind is a good servant, but a cruel taskmaster!' Many of us never learned how to calm our minds, limit our worrying, and self-soothe. Mindfulness training is one of the most researched methods for learning to do this. My work with individuals helps them to become skilled in this way, and to lessen the grip of attitudes and beliefs that limit us in significant ways. I work with individuals in this way, as well as with groups.

It's hard being a person. We all struggle to some extent in fundamental areas of human life-- relationships, identity, work, destructive behaviors, the meaning of life itself. Satisfying marriage/committed relationships are a specific challenge faced by many. I work in both individual and couples therapy. There are many ways to approach human problems, including: how family of origin influences personality; one's relationship to one's thoughts and feelings; self-defeating beliefs, both conscious and unconscious; self-defeating behavior. I value thoughtfulness and compassion, working together, and recognizing your goals and ideas.

My clinical interests are broad, but generally include depression, anxiety, relationship concerns, mindfulness, sexual orientation, gender (including letters for gender confirmation procedures), chronic pain/illness, and disability.
My clinical approach is integrative, although my interventions often focus on acceptance and self-compassion while empowering my clients to make the changes they would like to see in their lives. I firmly believe that therapy should be focused on helping you become the best version of yourself, as YOU understand it. In keeping with that goal, I take great care to ensure that therapy is affirming of all aspects of diversity and identity.

I offer individual and couples therapy tailored to the needs of the unique people who walk through my door. With training and interest in working with patients across the lifespan coming from diverse backgrounds, I have special interest in working with emerging adults (older teens to 30's) and couples. I work well with patients struggling with life transitions, relationship issues, anger, depression, and anxiety. As a psychologist, I've learned through my training, research, and personal experience that there is no such thing as "one-size fits all" when it comes to therapy and change.

I am also a certified Imago Relationship Therapist.
My goal is to create an atmosphere where every person that enters my office feels it is a safe place to learn and grow. I honor the unique strengths that each individual already possesses while challenging them to grow and develop in other areas. While I encourage people to stretch beyond their comfort zones, I respect and accept each person where they are at in their growth process. I have 19 years experience as a Psychotherapist. I work with children, adolescents, adults, and couples. When working with children, I feel it is important to become a team with their parents.

Welcome. I work with adolescents and adults that are struggling to manage difficult emotions - anxiety, sadness, anger, disappointment, envy, loneliness, and grief. Navigating what a full life has to offer can be tricky; going off to college, blended families, parenting concerns, relationship problems, divorce, loss, multicultural issues can leave us feeling lost and alone. Together, we work in an empathic and safe space to explore the twists and turns of your unique experiences. By thoughtfully examining emotions and painful experiences you can increase coping skills and bolster resiliency.

I work with clients to address relationship problems, grief/loss, low self-esteem, academic/employment difficulties, etc.
Sometimes our job (as therapists) is to carry the hope for our clients until they can carry it themselves. The fact that you are considering therapy means that you want to believe that your situation can improve. While hope is not always easy to come by, human beings are resilient, we are survivors, and it is okay to seek help when the load gets too heavy to carry on our own. Psychotherapy is a collaborative process. I will work with you to develop the insight and skills needed to overcome challenges so that you can live a healthier/happier life.

I believe that the most important factor to successful therapy outcomes is the relationship between a client and their therapist.
In my private practice, I specialize in working with the transgender and non-binary community: adults, teens and children who identify as transgender and parents with a child or adult child who identifies as transgender or non-binary. While trans identified individuals face many of the same challenges as cisgender people, such as depression, anxiety and relationship concerns, I am also aware of the challenges unique to transgender and non-binary people and their loved ones including discrimination, stigma, rejection, and oppression.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
