Counseling is not just an educational endeavor for me, it is my true life’s passion. As my primary spiritual/natural gift, my purpose on earth is to utilize my counseling skills to serve others in any capacity that I can. We have all felt sad, angry, lonely, misunderstood, unforgiven, misused, abused, fed up, and so on and so forth. Our goal in therapy would be to examine your emotional well being and how it impacts your life. While you process through everything from past trauma to current conflicts, it is significant to know that your growth and healing is what is most important to me.

at Catholic University after working at Loyola University for years, bringing a well formed sense of spirituality into my work.
Welcome. I'm so glad you're here. Life can just be hard at times, but you are not alone. Whatever the issue - trauma, illness, loss, adjustments, relationships - I meet you where you are and listen to understand your challenges. In a safe and supportive environment, we will gently explore the sources of these difficulties and collaboratively seek ways to develop the insight, connections, grounding, and sense of flourishing that you seek. I draw from mindfulness and contemplative practices, family systems, cognitive therapies and nature-based interventions to dovetail the counseling process specifically for your needs.

I'll pull from traditional talk therapy plus a range of healing & development arenas like: mindset & self-worth coaching, body-based relaxation techniques, and spirituality & energetics.
Can't relax because your miles long to-do list is always on your mind? You've come to the right place! I help high-performers break free from hustle culture and reconnect with the peace and contentment they've been missing (or never had to begin with!). My blended style of therapy & coaching helps you tap into the awareness, motivation, and inspiration you need to get unblocked and get honest with yourself about what really matters to you - not just what everyone has told you SHOULD matter. Get ready to release who you've been and make space for all you can become. Your next-level life is waiting for you.

I have studied Jungian psychology, holistic health, energy therapies, meditation, astrology, and spirituality.
I teach people how to meditate and how to create their own life (instead of life happening to them, like a victim). I assist people in shifting to a perspective where they change their own vibrations in order to change what they attract into their life. I work with individuals. I also host retreats and workshops for those interested in quantum science (the science of energy or non-matter), meditation, and inner transformation.

In the tackling of difficult life dilemmas, I also find that integrating my clients' own spirituality and their own concern for social justice issues gives deeper meaning to therapy.
I am committed to meeting you where you are. I work hard to understand and validate what it is like to be you. So, your goals for therapy are the crucial foundation for our work together. If you experience that I really do understand and validate you and your goals, then I believe you will allow me to challenge you in helpful ways when it becomes difficult to make significant changes that you want to make. I also believe that work with at least five dimensions (MIND, BODY, SOUL, SYSTEM, and STORY) in an organic and natural way can help you succeed in meeting your goals, even if other approaches have not been successful.

Hi, I’m Eric. I believe the foundation of helpful therapy is a trusting and supportive relationship. I provide a safe and compassionate space where clients are encouraged to gain self-awareness, while honoring the strengths and values each person brings with them. A process of exploration into your own experience - of thought, emotion, sensation, and behavior - can empower a greater ability to make conscious, creative choices toward personally meaningful change for a more fulfilling life. Gradually, this process can transform the way you relate to yourself, others, and the world.

“You need to learn to be happy on your own,” "You're too sensitive,” "Stop overthinking." These kinds of judgements and criticisms are incorrect and make you feel worse. How you see your story, and what actions you take in your life as a result, can either create stress, sadness, anger, and inner turmoil; or joy, inspiration, hope, and relaxation. What could someone say to you that would make you feel understood or at peace instead of bad, unworthy, or "crazy," and how can you consistently know those "good" things about you instead of thoughts that make you feel bad? I help my clients find unique, true answers to these questions.

I work primarily with issues of depression, anxiety, child abuse, neglect, grief, and trauma. Helping someone through difficult issues is a collaboration between therapist and client. It takes courage to show up for therapy and trust someone to help! I practiced and taught meditation as a means for recovering from trauma for 30 years before becoming a therapist. Meditation develops a stronger, calmer mind, but doesn't completely clear psychological issues, unless you've the luxury of years of intense practice. For faster results than talk therapy or meditation alone, I integrate them to build self-awareness and stability.

As a Holistic Health Practitioner, I believe these conditions cover up, rather than define, who you truly are. My unique approach to holistic health and wellness encourages a balanced integration of the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of your wellbeing. I'd like to support you in creating optimal conditions for the safe, mindful, and deep exploration of your innate capacity for self-healing and radical transformation.

Coming from a strengths based perspective, fostering resilience is an important part of my practice. I hope clients can expand on what's already working and learn the skills and insight necessary to meet their goals.

My work as a therapist began with my own search for and exploration of meaning, insight and growth. I work in an organic way so that the unique personality, both conscious and unconscious, of each client can come to the forefront. Oftentimes clients bring dreams, creative work and other material that allows for unknown elements to come into the light of our work together.

I enjoy working with people who are often considered outsiders, those challenge the established norms of our society, in their pursuit of a more holistic future for themselves and our world. This includes activists, educators, artists, fellow mental health professionals, writers, musicians, and those who live in ways unique to themselves. A throughline of my work revolves around the realm of disabilities, many of which remain unrecognized by others. I believe that disability advocacy requires working through issues of power, autonomy, social inequality, and environment.

Spirituality Therapists

What should I expect from therapy that incorporates a focus on spirituality?

Spirituality can mean different things to different individuals, depending on their experiences, beliefs, and life histories. Some individuals focus on strengthening their belief system, while others experience spirituality in secular ways, such as through meditation, yoga, or by spending time in nature. Clients can expect a therapist to help guide and grow their spirituality through any of these techniques, encouraging the individual to cope with the challenges they face and develop strategies to build resilience and purpose to improve their outlook in life.

What are the most common treatments that include spirituality?

There are several treatments that incorporate spirituality. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) helps a person examine and reframe their negative thoughts and behaviors. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) focuses on emotional acceptance and psychological flexibility. Existential therapy is most often used to address anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, apathy, despair, questions of identity, and feelings of purposelessness and existential dread. Transpersonal therapy focuses on a client’s spirituality and meaning in life and may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork.

Can therapy incorporating spirituality help atheistic or agnostic individuals?

Yes. For non-believers, spirituality can offer benefits including a greater sense of connection to others and to the natural world. An interest in spirituality may also spur individuals to pursue mindfulness practices, or to contemplate their purpose in life and how to achieve it.

How effective is spirituality as a therapeutic remedy?

Research suggests spirituality is generally beneficial for individuals. It is correlated with better health habits, such as less substance use, and an improved capacity to cope with stress and other mental health challenges. Increased spirituality can lead individuals to become more empathic and less materialistic, as well.
