Clients can choose from talk therapy, art therapy, or short term Accelerated Resolution Therapy.
Feeling stuck and having trouble engaging with what really matters to you? Your brain has done an excellent job keeping you safe, but some strategies developed as a reaction to stressors may no longer meet your needs. Issues like family of origin discord, medical illnesses, neurodiversity, and stressful work environments can all add up to impact our relationship with ourselves and others. I especially love working with high achievers who have issues with perfectionism, burnout, dissociation, attachment, and procrastination.

I specialize in helping adults (18 yrs & older) discover their resiliency and find peace in their everyday lives. I work with those affected by anxiety, depression, trauma and OCD, as well as issues including life changes, perfectionism & self-esteem. I also work with women diagnosed with ADHD, especially those diagnosed later in adulthood, or who are curious if they could have ADHD. My focus is on providing individual therapy, and I like to use an eclectic approach that's tailored to each individual client.

I have over 6 years of experience as a psychotherapist and art therapist and have worked primarily with children and families who need help with depression, anxiety, trauma, abuse, and so much more.
I like to work with children, adolescents, and adults using the creative process to support and encourage young people to understand themselves, their issues, and the world. We all have problems in life, and mental health-related concerns are some that need our attention daily. Children experience the same problems that we as adults do. However, they may look and feel different due to their development and emotional strength. Each family may have different goals and needs; understanding and focusing on each child and patient and their needs is important, and having verbal and non-verbal ways to do so can be what is needed.

Whether in person or online, I use an integrative approach of Art Therapy, CBT, and Talk Therapy in my work with children, adolescents, and adults. I believe in the healing power of art and creative self expression in ways that are beyond verbal articulation. You do not need to be an artist or creatively inclined in order to participate in Art Therapy. Rather, be open to the process of artmaking as a path to aid you in your healing journey. I use a trauma informed lens and person centered approach to my practice. Therapy is a collaborative process and I value your voice, thoughts, and emotions during our time together.

Some of the techniques I use include play therapy, art therapy, sand tray, and CBT.
As a parent, finding help (and the right kind of help) for your child or adolescent or even knowing where to start with that can be overwhelming. The fact that you’re even reading this though says one thing: you have hope, and that’s the first step! Therapy can help your child learn how to navigate difficult emotions, gain understanding of their personal goals, and find confidence in who they are, all in a safe and warm environment.

With my training in Art Therapy, we can begin to explore in a different way.
You might be a parent really wishing that there was a handbook on how to do this best. Or maybe you're a teenage girl really struggling with sustaining healthy friendships. Possibly, you are graduating from college and feeling utterly lost. No matter where you fall in that spectrum, or outside of it. I believe that you can create growth in your life. I am here to walk with you on that path. I won't lead you; you will make those choices yourself. But I will be a guide.

Art Therapy

How does art therapy work?

The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.

Does art therapy help with trauma?

Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.

How long does art therapy last?

The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

What are the limitations of art therapy?

Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
