Depression Therapists in 55419

Mathew D Quaschnick, Counselor in Minneapolis
“My perspective on therapy is practical and effective. It works well with many problems: depression, anxiety and more general issues. I know the importance of identifying and focusing on the unique details of the problem area. I value the importance of the collaborative process. I want to hear you and I want to assist you to be able to engage your problem on its fundamental level and I have experience doing just that. Collaboration and focus with a prioritization directed toward change. Therapy is not always easy but it should be an "effort-reduced" movement that can be very rewarding.

“Years ago, there was a TV show, Dennis the Menace. In one episode, Dennis comes in and empties his huge pockets onto the kitchen table. He pulls out marbles, small trucks and cars, a ball of string, rocks, even a LIVE frog! The humor is...how can a small boy have so much in his pockets! I believe this is a good metaphor for therapy. We all go through life carrying lots of "stuff" in our pockets...shame, pain, fear! In therapy we can empty our pockets and take a look at what is keeping us from having a happy, productive life of freedom.

“I am interested in helping the family system as a whole. Whether treating the individual, couple, or family I believe the effects can be felt by many more than just those being treated. I operate from a perspective that does not think that I as the therapist have all the answers. The client has the answers within them, they just need to be unlocked!

“I offer psychotherapy and art therapy for adults, adolescents, couples, and families. Using an integrative approach, I incorporate mindfulness-based therapies with expressive exercises. Placing great importance on providing an environment where clients feel safe to freely and creatively explore their inner world, I view a good therapeutic relationship as one of being in the spirit of collaboration.
