I work with individuals and couples.
I am passionate about whole body healing or holistic health. Holistic health includes mind, body, and spirit. I believe this is essential for an individual to experience relief from unwanted mental health difficulties. I believe for most people our feelings give us information about our internal environment and it’s important to learn from them and make changes in our external environment as needed. Action is important when looking to change our relationship with our emotions. Therapy can often help with figuring out what action steps need to be taken to reach ones goals. A lot of work is required outside of session to make changes

I offer short- and long-term therapy for children, adolescents, couples, and families, who are seeking assistance either individually or as part of a family or couple.
Today's crazy pace of life as well as the stresses of family, money, school, employment, not to mention COVID-19 and politics, it is no wonder more and more people are looking for therapeutic support to find balance in their lives. I will strive to help you find that balance, working with and building on your strengths, already present within you, but lost in the chaos of present day life in a safe, supportive environment. We will work to build coping skills to deal with every day life, when things get tough. Life is full of ups and downs. You can learn new ways to shift your perception, to build on the strengths and positives.

I work with individuals, relationship dynamics and family’s of of all ages to assist in restoring the presence of joy and peace.
The path of healing varies pertaining to each individual. One thing that remains the same for all is that this pathway resides within you. There exists a magical world full of wonder beyond what most have allowed themselves to perceive. The key to unlocking that world resides within the healing itself. Great magnificence awaits any individual when they devote themselves upon the journey home to their own heart. I am here to assist you to move through old painful patterns and beliefs that no longer serve you. I am happy to be of assistance along your journey of healing so that you can restore your passion and live a life of joy.

I enjoy working with adolescents and adults who are looking for individual, couples', family, and/or group psychotherapy or psychological assessment.
Coming to therapy can be challenging and create a sense of vulnerability. I strive to be a compassionate clinical psychologist to be a present, empathic listener to help people improve their life situation, relationships, and sense of well-being. I am best suited to treat individuals and couples who are struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship struggles, and trauma. I have a particular interest and training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy. In addition, I work with individuals who develop psychological difficulties that accompany medical illnesses, specifically those who suffer from chronic pain.

My hope is to create a healthy relationship with clients, with respect for boundaries and uncomfortable emotions, which can be used as a model and guide for other relationships in their lives.
We’ve all been stuck in a rut before. Sometimes we don’t even know how we ended up there. What we do know is that we find ourselves consistently frustrated with the same problems or the same people, having the same unproductive conversation or argument over and over again. It’s stressful and exhausting and sometimes it makes us want to give up. If you are longing to feel like "yourself" again, I can help you create space for shifts in the patterns that make you feel stuck. Most of the time, these patterns started off serving an important and positive purpose, but have likely outlasted their initial use.

Do you feel like life is always overwhelming? Do you feel alone? Are you using distractions (substances, food, devices) to soothe yourself which is causing more suffering instead of bringing relief? Our culture today pushes for faster, better, stronger which can be painful. It leads to patterns and behaviors that cut us off from experiencing freedom, joy and ease. I work with teenagers and adults who have found that their "old ways" are more causing more suffering than comfort and they are ready to open to something new.

I have been practicing psychotherapy for almost 40 years. I believe therapy to be an art form, inasmuch as each person, couple or family has their own singular story, and their own needs; My job is to employ the best approach for that individual or family. I utilize metaphor and humor as tools to help re-frame a perspective or shed light on a troublesome concept, often helping clients look at a particular difficulty in a new way. Please call for a free consult.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
