In addition to what has been mentioned, session work may find the utilization of CBT, REBT, motivational interviewing, mindfulness, family systems, and other client-centered strategies when serving others.
Working with others and navigating through life's challenges together has been a strong calling and a personal passion for me. I typically use a solution-focused and strength-based approach primarily working with teens, young adults, adults, and couples. Many of my clients face anxiety, depression, relationship issues, addiction, overcoming trauma, and a need for goal setting and coaching. I have spent years working in case management, non-profit agency work, school counseling, and athletics and have learned the importance of striving to connect, invest, advocate, and strategize with others to help them find hope and fulfillment.

My approach incorporates narrative, internal family systems and emotionally focused therapy to encourage clients in creating space between themselves and their experiences.
I feel honored to walk alongside clients in helping renew freedom in themselves. I strive to offer a warm, supportive, and empathic environment for my clients to begin pursuing change in their lives. I work collaboratively with my clients to help them leave behind things they no longer need- behavioral patterns that lead to inauthentic relationships, difficulty in managing emotions, unhealthy view of themselves, or anything that prevents clients from being their genuine self.

Accepting new clients. When life gets hard, it can be helpful to have a safe place to let it all out. I'd be honored to be that safe place for you. I won't judge you, I won't criticize you, and I won't leave you feeling unsure of yourself. I will, however, motivate you when you're feeling overwhelmed, comfort you when you're hurt, reassure you when others make you feel unworthy, and challenge you to think differently.

I am excited to announce my practice is expanding. We now have three licensed therapists who are all fantastic caring people. It is important to accept a person exactly where they are, in a safe and non-judgmental space where we can explore their issues, find and nurture hope, and together work toward growth and equanimity. As a counselor, my job is to hear, accept and understand my client as a whole person and provide strategies to achieve their goals. Growth, healing and change can be challenging and may take hard work on the part of the client and the counselor. I am honored to be a part of that process with my clients.

Accepting new clients! Life is hard, and everyone needs support at one time or another. If you are experiencing anxiety, depression, tough relationships, or difficult transitions – you are not alone. We all reach points in our lives when we could use additional care and support to help us view things from a different angle. It can be hard to ask for help. It might even be scary, and that is okay. In many cases, feeling scared may be the first step in an amazing journey of growth and new opportunities.

Welcome, I know the first steps in asking for help can be challenging and I am glad you are exploring the possibility of counseling and how it can enhance your life. Most people exprience difficulty or obstacles at some point in life, the good news that difficulty doesn't have to be permanent. I strive to create an environment where people can express themselves, learn more about themselves, challenge themselves, and overcome life's obstacles. No obstacle is too small or too big for us to tackle together.

I approach the therapeutic relationship through a compassionate, trauma-informed, IFS (Internal Family Systems) lens.
We have all been through transitions where our sense of wholeness and balance have been in need of healing. For over 25 years it has been an honor to hold that space for clients as they process life's more challenging issues from abuse, trauma, shame and broken relationships to everyday life stress and self-esteem. I look forward to hearing your story and helping you re-discover your best self. I enjoy working with families, parents, couples and individuals with diverse issues. I welcome the opportunity for our paths to cross! I am excited to announce the expansion of my practice with the addition of Ian Adams and Ross Moffatt!

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
