Welcome! I am a compassionate and experienced therapist who is passionate about helping people overcome their challenges and achieve their goals. I hold a Master's degree in Counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary, and I have over 10+ years of experience working in various clinical settings, including community mental health centers, hospitals, churches, inpatient facilities, addiction facilities, and private practices. My approach to therapy is integrative and holistic, combining evidence-based practices with a Christian worldview.

I have over 20 years of experience. My specialities include intensive one on one therapy, trauma and family and marriage counseling. I work with children, adolescents and adults. I am a Clinical Social Work Supervisor and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. I address addiction, anxiety, depression, grief/loss, sleep, sports, and weight loss management. I teach coping skills, communication skills, healthy relationships, positive mindset & help motivate clients to make change. I have a certification in PTSD and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia. I use CBT to assist clients in meeting their needs and goals.

We often have calls with psychiatrists, other therapists, recovery coaches, and family members to ensure we fully understand the history and current state.

I have more than twenty five years experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics in individual, marital, family, and groups in the field of counseling health services. My experience includes consulting in inpatient psychiatric and hospitals, medical/surgical hospitals, nursing homes, pain management clinics, and private practice. I also specialize in career testing and counseling for high school students, college students, and in career transition for adults. I have served as a psychologist and director of a Christian counseling center for eight years and as a psychologist and manager for the employee assistance program for Methodist Hospitals of Dallas.

The most recent brain/body science shows us long-term healing is difficult to achieve without changing how information travels through the nervous system. Mr. Simmons utilizes a mind/body-based treatment approach that combines relevant talk therapy modalities, psychoeducation, mindfulness and somatic stabilization techniques, along with Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing, Multichannel Eye Movement Integration (MEMI), Emotional Freedom Technique, and Trauma Informed treatment techniques to address client's presenting symptoms and achieve a variety of treatment goals.

My specialty is sexual addiction, and I am a Dallas area Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) trained personally by Dr Patrick Carnes. I treat drug and alcohol dependence, and associated trauma, grief, and depression as well. I treat cybersex addiction, pornography addiction, multiple affairs, and other sexually compulsive behavior. Sexual addiction, like other addictions, affects the whole family system, especially the partner. I am a CPTT, Certified Partner Trauma Therapist as well.

I have been married for 16 years and have three adult stepchildren, a son-in-law and 3 grandchildren. I also have 2 cats that are important members of the family. The spirit of and definition family is something that has grown and has become valued over the years. My life experiences have given me insight and perspectives that allow me to make unique connections with my clients. I learned that life is ever changing. I have come to realize is that during times when we feel defeated, it does not mean we are unable to change the outcome or our quality of life in the future. Nor, is it too late to create the life we do want.
