I work with issues of development, life transitions, anxiety/stress, anger, depression, grief, career counseling, and spiritual doubt growth.
As a Christian counselor, I believe a person's problems and concerns can encompass their physical, mental, and spiritual health. My goal is to provide therapy that addresses a client's deeper issues and wounds not just their symptoms. I consider it important to provide a safe and supportive therapeutic environment to promote development, healing and growth. I work with depression, anxiety, PTSD & trauma recovery, marriage/pre-marital therapy and parent education. If life feels overwhelming, stressful or lonely, I would consider it a privilege to set up a consultation to offer hope and courage for your current situation.

In an intentional effort to guide as many people as possible to identifying barriers to healing and moving forward, I specialize in grief and loss counseling.
Accepting New Clients. In 2012, my nephew was murdered. Nothing in life could have prepared my family and me for the sudden loss that shattered our worlds. I sought the help of a professional counselor who guided me to healing through support and compassion. The concept of "you have to go through the pain to get to the healing," enabled me to transition from accepting the death of my nephew to healing and moving forward. By turning pain into purpose, I've made a complete professional pivot from education to counseling.

Are you having a difficult time handling the struggles in your life? Could you use an expert opinion on what you’re going through, or a non-judgmental ear just to listen? If you’ve been feeling hopeless or lost, or struggling with a problem that feels unsurmountable, individual therapy can help. I enjoy working with clients who are managing health and medical concerns, such as disordered eating/body image concerns, cancer and/or autoimmune diseases. I also appreciate helping people undergo the process of adapting to a loss, or other major life transitions.

I have more than 20 years experience working with anxiety, depression, loss/grief, women's issues, children/adolescents, and domestic violence.
I believe life is a journey, not a destination. Life is a gift. Due to uncertainties, hardships, and even joy, the road on our journey of life is not always smooth. Throughout our travel, we encounter challenges which test our strength, courage, faith, and alliances. I embrace the challenges, examine strengths, as well as give permission to experience the deviations. I value and respect the uniqueness everyone possess. I will work with you to explore healthy ways to manage the stressors along the journey to improve your quality of life. I subscribe to the belief "there are no problems only solutions".

I consider my self a generalist - meaning a treat a wide variety of mental health challenges, but I do have several specialties including: Grief, Couples therapy, Pre-marital counseling, Teens and treatment resistant depression/anxiety.
NOW ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS! As your counselor, I don’t have all the answers. I can’t make your dreams come true, that extra 10lbs disappear or your marriage happy. But – I can help YOU make all those things happen. Therapy is hard work – I’ll tell you that now. I’ll challenge you, call out nonsense and push you to be the best version of yourself you can be. I will also be your biggest cheerleader, your bulldog and ultimately, your guide. I can’t promise you therapy with me will be easy. But I can promise you if you put in the work, it'll be worth it.

My training and experience provide a unique insight into depression, anxiety, stress, trauma and loss.
In our busy and stress filled days, the intense feelings generated by everyday life, childhood neglect or abuse, life transitions, separation/divorce and loss of a loved one often turn our busy world upside down. It is in the midst of these life events I have found my calling and work. You are not alone! Many others have journeyed the path of anxiety, despair, fear, loneliness and, yes depression to a place of hope and freedom and joy.

I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, and life transitions. You may have had a loss that has left you unable to participate in your own life the way you hoped. Maybe you are dealing with anxiety or depression that is unrelenting and seems to come out of nowhere, or maybe you just need help navigating changes. All of these things can begin to wear away at your well-being and make you question your place in the world. My goal as a therapist is to work with you to find the tools that are a solid fit for you and to help you find positive, healthy ways to manage and thrive.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
