We all encounter challenges in our lives. I am here to help you successfully navigate through those challenges, to discover untapped inner resources and possibilities, for successful change to take place. Have you or your family been struggling to keep everything together but now have a growing sense that you are stuck and need help? Are you telling yourself “just get through another day”? Or do past events distress you still even though they happened years ago? If you answer “yes” to any of these questions, then I can help you bring a sense of balance and healing to your life.

Serving both Arizona and Idaho: Few things are as painful as feeling unseen, unheard, or misunderstood, especially when it comes from the things we hold most dear - our family, jobs, and dreams. It can lead us to a breaking point where finding help seems impossible. Are you there now? Let's have a healing conversation.

Although I come from a Hispanic culture and I connect very well with this culture, I also have the ability to connect very well with other cultures because of my personal values of respect and family.
As a clinical therapist, I provide therapy for any and all types of populations and ages and a wide range of diagnosis. For me, providing therapy means that I listen, guide, advocate, and teach skills, without judgment, to help you become stronger and more successful in your life. Once we complete the intake, I schedule a therapy session with you. From there we start our therapeutic process. Depending on your goals, the therapeutic process can vary in length, but every case is individualized to your needs and I always meet you where you are.

When you can resolve internal and external conflict and challenges such as anxiety and depression, it builds self-confidence and trust. As a client I want you to acknowledge, validate and identify your own experiences and emotions without judgment. It is essential that you are able to create a new narrative to begin a process of accountability, growth, and healing. It is important that you are being seen, heard, and valued. As you begin your journey, you will begin to identify your main issues such as grief and loss, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, mood disorders, behavior, conflict, boundaries, and other issues.

Most people come to therapy to eliminate the pain they are experiencing or "to not feel crazy," and "to have someone to talk without bias". These are the statements client's have shared with me over the years. My passion provides me the opportunity to hear, normalize and enjoy the work I do.

As a Registered Play Therapist, I approach child distress as a response to changes in family structure, nurturing and consistency in caregiver relationships, and coordination between parents, social resources, and schools.
Arizona: all ages for in-person sessions. Minnesota: ages 14 and up online sessions. Life events can be stressful. There are moments when we all feel overwhelmed and need support. Therapy provides a safe space to work together in exploring solutions to challenging thoughts, feelings, and situations. Interventions are tailored to individual situations and client needs. This can include use of EMDR for trauma processing and challenging negative cognitions, CBT with a psychodynamic and humanistic approach, and play therapy with children.

Hello, my name is Victoria Hoyt, and I am an independent Marriage and Family Therapist and an Independent Addiction Counselor. I still love what I do after 22 years. I am independently licensed in 3 different states as a Marriage and Family Therapist and independently licensed in 2 states as an Addiction Counselor. I believe everyone has a "gift," something that they are called to do, and Counseling is mine. I use Emotional Focus Therapy, Strength-Based, Trauma-Informed, Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, but it really depends on the clients I am seeing.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
