I also provide individual, parent guidance and family therapy for children, adolescents and adults.
My clinical work is focused exclusively on psychological/neuropsychological assessment and intervention for children, adolescents, and adults. A thorough assessment seeks to understand, diagnose, and classify to be sure; however, the ultimate benefit is providing a manageable and effective intervention plan that leads to relief from distress and an increased capacity to engage fully in one's life. I would be pleased to meet you for a consultation, so that we may discuss your or your child's situation and have you receive a more detailed sense of my approach.

Using substances is a common form of trying to cope with family and relationship stress; it could be difficult with one’s personal history, personal trauma, military or similar trauma, even every-day chronic stress.
Most of us act with the best of intentions and don’t always get the results we were expecting. As a counselor, my role is not to tell a client what to do, but rather to help clients examine what their goals are, different ways goals can be achieved, and to provide supportive and honest feedback through a therapeutic relationship. I have lived in and around very diverse communities throughout my life, and I take pride in understanding and honoring everyone’s unique culture and beliefs.

When facing challenges, it is difficult to make sense of what it is going on around you. These challenges may impact your relationships with your friends or family, affect your career, or even alter the way you view yourself. During these times, it is important to understand how a therapist can assist you.

I love walking alongside an individual and their family while they rediscover their strengths and their paths.
If you want help making your life more manageable or finding a way out of the chaos, you have come to the right place. If you feel like you are struggling to reconcile experiences or find coping skills to manage mental health concerns, relationship issues, and/or addictions, you have also come to the right place. We will work together to identify the source of your discomfort and unmanageability and then identify tools to move forward. Once we have identified the problem, we can work towards a solution. I am very solution focused in my approach and enjoy working with individuals who are ready to make sustainable change.

I’m here to help those who have been called, or might consider themselves a "highly-sensitive" individual. The sensitivity might be a result from experiencing trauma, or due to sensory processing difficulties. Specifically, I support those with Autism, ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorders, Chronic Illness and family conflict. In therapy, clients are looking for a safe space to process their life experiences. As a late diagnosed and identified neurodivergent therapist, my goal is to empower my client who may experience the world in this beautiful and "different" way.

I'm trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Divorce Mediation, and I have recently been studying Internal Family Systems.
I strive for my clients to get something out of every session. I have a very conversational style and I want you to feel motivated to come to sessions because we can have fun and laugh as well as work on the hard stuff. I think your success in therapy will also mean finding some solid goals for yourself, such as using new ways of thinking or finding skills that you can practice. I have seen clients of all ages and from many different walks of life, and I love being able to find stuff in common with everyone. If you want to feel better, that is a great place for us to start the conversation.

Each individual is unique and an expert in their own journey. I encourage my clients to pursue their own authentic self while working to debunk societal norms that may be holding them back. I take a trauma informed approach that starts by bringing awareness to our body. I enjoy working with those who are 13+ (adults) to navigate relationship issues, depression, disordered eating; supporting friends and family members associated to persons with substance abuse issues.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
