I have experience and a special interest in helping people like you alleviate their anxiety, relationship problems and burnout.

You make sense. Each part of you is here for an important reason and has a role to play in your continued growth. However, if you are seeking therapy, it might seem like just the opposite is true. Anxiety, depression, and behaviors that feel out of control can make our lives seem painfully small, disconnected, overwhelming, or incomplete. Whether long-term or sudden, these difficulties often involve a sense of stuckness; at such times we might tell ourselves that we are flawed, or that this is just the way life is. And yet, even as we are struggling, something in us knows that another way is possible.

Life transitions are inherent in the human experience. Sometimes we are resilient and are able to navigate life’s’ difficulties and other times we need to talk to someone who can truly hear us. I offer individual, family and couples counseling for adults of any age and provide a safe, supportive and empathic setting in which you will feel respected and heard regardless of race, gender identity/expression and sexual orientation.

At this time, I am NOT able to take any new clients. My ideal client is a person or family who is seeking change and who is looking for a therapist with an energetic, actively-involved, solution-focused style. When working with children, I use play therapy and will invite parents to play with us while teaching them what I'm doing and why I'm doing it. I will also teach the parents how to reinforce the same skills at home through play or other techniques. When working with teens and adults, I adjust my style in order to build a connection.

I am passionate about working with Alcoholics and Addicts who are struggling to regain control of their life. I strive to empower people, working together collaboratively in an effort to re-chart their course in all areas of their lives.

My primary goal is to empower my adult clients. I do this by helping them understand their personal patterns, triggers, and behaviors. I customize my methods to each person's individual needs while drawing on my training and experience. I offer an empathic, judgment-free space for clients to explore the issues that concern them. From this client-centered foundation we can identify clear goals, barriers, and strategies for change. My practice is LGBTQIA+-affirming and BIPOC-allied.

We all have the capacity to experience joy and happiness, but when we carry unresolved trauma of any type, life can become a constant struggle. I specialize in private intensive therapy retreats that offer significant results in days, not years. My retreats combine recent advances in neuroscience and attachment research with Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Progressive Counting (PC) and Internal Family Systems (IFS), enabling us to work with your underlying core issues – to get right to the heart of the problem – so that your symptoms are totally eliminated or significantly decreased.

I believe psychotherapy is first about listening and endeavoring to understand each individual and the experiences that have shaped their life. As the therapist, I bring and shape the skills that I have acquired to assist each client in the resolution of their individual challenges. I understand that successful psychotherapy is determined by trust established between the therapist and client within the therapeutic relationship. Throughout my life an career I have come to understand this that pain is an inevitable part of all of our lives, but suffering does not have to be; we can all find our way back to joy and fulfillment.

My specialties include anxiety, trauma / PTSD, depression, grief, adjustment, relationship issues, and sexual orientation and gender identity empowerment. I offer an eclectic approach to therapy, drawing upon psychodynamic and trauma-informed methods, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, a form of psychotherapy incorporating cognitive-behavioral, dialectical, and mindfulness tools.

Neuroscience teaches us how emotions affect our behavior, how they are stored in the body, and how negative emotions can be healed. In my work, I utilize techniques that focus on the relationship and the feedback mechanisms between the mind and the body in order to promote deeper and more complete healing. I also help couples and families recognize patterns of behavior that contribute to misunderstanding, tension and conflict. My intention is to create a safe space that is non-judgmental, welcoming and warm.

As a queer Trans Woman with lived experience, it's also my specialty to uplift LGBTQIA+ individuals on their journeys with identity, transitions, & creating meaningful, love-filed lives. Across the spectrum of human identities, I'm trusted to support & empower people in their problem-solving processes. Many of my clients simply need help finding the tools & insight to move through a difficult situation.

I focus on empowering people to connect with their values and strengths and to heal and grow through challenges. You may be suffering with stress in a relationship, school, or work. You may be transitioning through a difficult stage of life, or wrestling with issues of identity. You may feel stuck in old patterns that hold you back while you are yearning to move forward. Drawing on mindfulness-based practice, informed especially by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, I offer a compassionate, nonjudgmental and collaborative approach to psychotherapy.

I welcome children, youth and adults to my therapy practice. At this time I am still accepting new clients and am offering both in person and video sessions. The focus of my therapy continues to be supporting individuals, whatever their age, who are recovering from traumatic experiences.

My office is conveniently located in the center of downtown, Amherst. I am a trauma informed clinician, and I approach treatment utilizing anti-oppressive and liberatory frameworks. My work is relationship based and culturally responsive. I address issues of race, gender, sexuality, and class oppression fluidly, and integrate identity development and social position in treatment. My clinical orientation is psychodynamic, utilizing cognitive and behavioral strategies when appropriate. I have engaged a range of issues including trauma, anxiety, depression, relational concerns, poverty and isolation.

I am a psychotherapist specializing in adult and couple therapy. Clinical consultation and life coaching are other areas of expertise. I maintain a private practice in Northampton MA which is easily accessible from Interstate 91. With over 30 years of experience I consider the interrelationship between the mind and body paramount. Specific areas of expertise include anxiety, trauma, stress management, parenting, relationship issues, LGBTQI+, trans, educational issues, health behavior, military personnel, and clinical consultation. Evidence-based modalities employed include: EMDR, EFT, and Motivational Interviewing.
