Anxiety, depression, life change, relationship challenges, emerging identities and the desire for stronger connections in life have been my primary focus.
Coming to therapy can often be a challenging decision. Knowing how to start or how to find the right therapist is key to meeting your goals. My approach is to create a safe and supportive space for individuals to engage in reflection, learning, growth, healing and empowerment. Whether you are a college student or a more seasoned adult, this process will look different for each person as everyone has had their collection of experiences that have brought them to this point. I use an eclectic, intentional and thoughtful approach tailored to each client.

I believe that the therapeutic relationship is central in successful treatment.
Deciding to seek any form of support isn't always the easiest decision. Recognizing that you want to connect with a professional about anxiety, depression, previous trauma or just someone to talk to with an impartial view, is a tremendous step in your growth as an individual. I pride myself on my ability to meet with my clients where they are at. To genuinely listen to them without judgement. Ensuring that they know I am on their team and want to help them achieve their goals. My primary goal is for the clients I work with to feel as comfortable and rewarded as possible through this process.

The relationship we build is central to our work.
Who you are: a millennial individual (or couple!) and finally ready to explore therapy. I help you articulate what’s at the root of your concerns: What's important to you? What do you value? How is your life currently aligned with those values and what is getting in the way? I help you better understand yourself, your needs, and how to get those needs met. It is important to me that the space we create is compassionate, curious, reflective, and interactive. Common issues that I work on in therapy include life transitions, managing stress/anxiety, building your sense of Self, relationship concerns, and improving communication.

My areas of experience/interest include trauma, women’s issues, depression, anxiety, self-esteem and empowerment, relationship challenges, and life transitions.
I am passionate about the work that I do and realize that reaching out and asking for help can be one of the most challenging aspects of starting the therapy process. We all have strengths, yet sometimes we need guidance to identify what they are and how they help us to move through difficult challenges we face. I draw upon several theoretical frameworks which include trauma-informed care, strength-based, solution-focused, narrative therapy, and systems practices. However, I prefer to relate on a human level and focus on building meaningful relationships where true compassion and understanding can lead to meaningful transformations.

I strive to create a nonjudgmental atmosphere in which our relationship forms the basis for a nurturing, supportive and healing environment.
Everyone has days when they feel a little anxious or overwhelmed by feelings. When those feelings start to interfere with your ability to sleep, work, engage in your relationships and enjoy life, it may be time to get some professional help. Therapy can offer the time and space to sort through your emotions, to learn how to cope with both the daily struggles and the long-term challenges, and to help you become your best self. Investing the time in yourself and in your mental health now can yield long-term benefits in helping you heal and set you on a happier and healthier path.

Hello, I enjoy working with individuals, couples and families I specialize in treating anxiety and depression. I have experience working with LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities. I also enjoy working with teenage and younger clients. I see many people who are going through life transitions. When one is going through grief and loss, education challenges, relationship difficulties, a new family member, pain or illness, it can be particularly difficult to cope and particularly beneficial to be in therapy to work through these issues with an unbiased ear. I also specialize in working with individuals who have struggles with chronic pain.

I have worked with a wide range of individuals and couples to overcome or heal from personal hardships, and work towards healthy goals.
Are you navigating big changes in life such as marriage, pregnancy, or becoming a first time parent? These stages can be very exciting, but also new and overwhelming. When lacking critical supports either socially or emotionally, these experiences can become both personally challenging and contribute to issues in your relationship. As a licensed counselor and certified in perinatal mental health, I am experienced in providing the support for individuals and couples seeking to improve their personal mental health and the quality of their relationships.

Although I was trained psycho-dynamically I have found over time that a variety of treatments have become increasingly useful in my work. I want the client to be a part of the treatment choice and plan. I do not want to just provide a service, but to help educate the client in order to help them become more independent in their future treatment needs. I feel; that no two clients fit the same box, as the client comes in and begins to open up about what has lead them to therapy, the treatment I use changes accordingly.

Loss, failure, and separation are major root causes of many forms of suffering in life. But they are not always evident, we may be too young when live through them, or we may not feel their impact until long after an event. Sometimes they even travel through generations. As a psychotherapist, I have spent over 25 years helping people who suffered from a variety of emotional and relational problems created by one or a combination of these issues, ranging from basic unhappiness to unhealthy relationships, workplace conflicts, divorce and separations, parents struggling with their children, migration and forced separation, even trauma.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
