We’re living through anxious times.
Everyone needs help from time to time. Parents, in particular, are faced with stress and pressures that reverberate throughout the family. It is a sign of strength to take action and reach out when things don't seem to be getting better on their own. You don't have time to waste, and I partner with you to get you feeling better quickly. Giving clients practical tools to make real, lasting changes is the hallmark of my work as a therapist and certified peaceful parenting coach.

I have experience helping people who are navigating life transitions, living with anxiety and depression, and seeking to change behaviors that no longer serve them.
Over time, therapy helps people make profound changes in their lives, enabling them to heal from painful pasts and experience themselves in the present as more vital and alive. To facilitate this growth, I offer my patients a place to explore their inner worlds, their challenges, and their relationships to others. Together, we identify the forces, internal and external, that keep them stuck in negative patterns. It is through knowing and addressing these forces that we expand their ability to experience themselves, connect to others, and act to improve their lives and reduce their suffering.

Our work together will give you the space to safely discuss your experiences, explore possibilities and feel heard and appreciated. I'm a thoughtful and nonjudgmental listener that views therapy as a dynamic partnership—founded on mutual openness, care, and respect. I see individuals as the best experts of their lived experience and when given active and holistic support can discover their inner strengths and preferred life directions. I strive to be person-centered, trauma-informed, and relational, while paying attention to the impact power dynamics, social expectations and structures have on people and the counseling process.

I work with young professionals and mid career professionals who feel depressed, anxious, stressed, lonely or have a loss of focus.
Therapy is discovering yourself and connecting to other people. When you do that self-discovery you get to know who you are, what you want, and how to get there. This is where happiness begins, but doing this by yourself can be frustrating, lonely and you may not see what is not working for you.

The way I see it, the goal of therapy is to bolster you so that you can maneuver whatever life brings your way. Depression, anxiety, and trauma all block our capacity to experience the wide range of emotions that give life it's vitality. As your therapist, I will be a secure and safe support as we explore patterns in your emotions and relationships, I will encourage you to experience life in a present-focused and embodied manner, and I will help to foster the growth of your natural strengths and resiliencies. Ultimately, I want to help my clients to reclaim their unique identity and to become better friends to themselves.

In my approach, I view a positive therapeutic relationship as the foundation to all growth and change. I am an insight-oriented trauma-informed therapist, working with adults (18+). I practice from an anti-racist, intersectional, and social justice lens and approach. I don’t pretend to know the answers, but together I hope to create a space of curiosity into your life experiences, your relationships, your patterns, and your goals so that you can imagine a different future.

Being human is hard. You're frustrated or unfulfilled in your relationships, having trouble coping with negative thoughts and feelings, or feeling disconnected from yourself or your goals. While outwardly you may look like you have it all together, internally, you feel isolated, stuck, or insecure. You're often second-guessing, blaming, or criticizing yourself. Being a perfectionist is exhausting and you feel like nothing you do is ever good enough. You struggle with saying no or worry about disappointing others. You can't get out of your own head and you feel weighed down by guilt or shame. You feel alone.

It’s been tough. You are struggling and have tried everything from meditation to herbal supplements, yet you still can’t get past that barrier to your happiness. You may have even tried therapy and although it helped, it still didn’t completely do it for you. Now what? You are not broken. Often, the general focus in treatment has been on feeling good rather than being good. It is exactly what we are taught since day one. If you are willing to break out of this cycle, we will work together to build your holistic resilience.

Anxiety Therapists
What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
