I believe all people who walk into therapy have experienced personal challenges, which at some point have left them feeling stuck or alone. My hope is to join you as you navigate suffering and move through life’s challenging moments together. I aim to create a warm and nurturing therapy space, meeting you where you are, so you can feel cared for and seen by me. No matter what struggle you are facing- anxiety, relationship stress, life transitions, recovering from trauma, family conflict, health problems, self-esteem, or identity issues- I am confident we can find a path forward together. I work with adult individuals and couples.

We work with depression, anxiety, bipolar, PTSD, eating disorders, bereavement, BPD, autism, ADHD, addiction, sexual abuse, DV, medical illnesses, relationship problems, LGTBQ+, adjustment disorders and forensic cases.
Footprints was started by a therapist who realized that often times the services provided to low socio-economic communities is lacking quality care. We noticed these communities where confronted with long wait times, disrespectful admins, and subpar treatment. The one and only purpose was to exploit the community for profit without providing the level of care deserved. Feel Better Therapy began from the inspiration to provide quality mental health care to the poorest of communities and treating the clients of this community the same way a rich patient would be treated in a clinic treating affluent clients.

What do you do when you don't feel seen, heard, or when your needs are not being met? Often folks develop useful, but sometimes counterproductive, ways of surviving or getting through overwhelming moments. Therapy can be a place to disrupt old habits that have long served their purpose and are robbing you of opportunities for growth and happiness. It's a place to not just be seen and heard, but where you can see and hear yourself. I specialize in helping clients find solutions to problems related to depression, anxiety, chronic illness, a/sexual identity and traumatic experiences.

You are capable of healing with adequate resources and expert care. I started a private practice so that I can help you grow into the person you want to be. In our work together, your well-being is my top priority. I utilize emotion regulation strategies and psychodynamic processing to address the root causes of emotion dysregulation, including treatment of past trauma and addressing attachment anxiety. My practice is neurodiverse-affirming, and I am happy to talk with you about psychological assessment for diagnosis and individualized recommendations to support your neurotype and overall psychological and emotional functioning.

Do you feel like you are existing rather than fully living… like a passenger in your own life? Living life on ‘auto-pilot’ can leave us feeling unfulfilled, full of self-doubt and disconnected from our true selves and from others. Perhaps you feel like you are spinning your wheels in life – like something is missing in terms of your self-worth, career or relationships. Maybe you feel estranged from who you really are, lost or ‘off-track’ in your direction, and wondering how you got here. Or stuck in repetitive patterns with disappointing results. All of this can sap your energy and make life feel like a ‘slog’.

Sexual Abuse Therapists

How do therapists treat sexual abuse?

A good therapist will be nonjudgmental and possibly demonstrate active listening, repeating back what the client says to show that they have understood. These skills allow people to feel comfortable discussing their traumatic experiences openly. Some important treatment goals are to restore a sense of safety and to rebuild confidence. In addition to working one-on-one with the patient, a therapist might bring in supportive family members to assist the client.

Do you have to talk extensively about sexual abuse in therapy?

Survivors frequently find it difficult to describe what happened to them out loud. They can even still be in a state of denial if the sexual abuse occurred recently. It is important for survivors to acknowledge that what happened isn’t their fault and to challenge and reappraise any unhealthy feelings or thoughts as they arise. Art therapy and play therapy are useful non-verbal means of communication for some survivors.

How long does treatment for sexual abuse take?

Recovery from sexual abuse can be a long and difficult process. Some survivors are able to move on naturally on their own, given time, while others require the guidance of a trained therapist. Therapy needs vary and can range from a few sessions to months or even years. Healing from sexual abuse takes time, and everyone’s journey will look a little different.

Can trauma symptoms caused by sexual abuse come back after treatment?

As occurs in many cases of trauma, survivors of sexual abuse may experience PTSD-like symptoms long after the abuse has ceased or after an initial round of treatment has occurred. In such a case, there is evidence that prolonged exposure therapy is a useful treatment for survivors, and may be more efficacious than supportive counseling alone. While triggers may continue to cause distress, the idea is that, with time and repeated exposure, their power will fade, allowing survivors to move on with their lives.
