Change can be intimidating. We develop methods of coping that, at one time, perhaps helped to survive, but now prevent us from ultimately thriving. This can manifest in our relationship patterns and our mood, causing disruption in work, love, family, friendships and a healthy identity. My approach to therapy is rooted in helping clients develop a deeper understanding of these patterns and effecting change and empowerment through insight, support, and challenging maladaptive beliefs.

Hi, I'm glad you're here! In my therapeutic practice, I work to support all clients in their exploration and healing around issues of gender identity, sex and sexuality, loss and grief, depression, anxiety, cultivating healthy relationships, and self-acceptance. I specialize in therapeutic work with queer and trans clients. I believe that the most important aspect of therapeutic work is the creation of an affirming and safe relationship between therapist and client. In this way, my approach as a therapist is one that first and foremost is warm, kind, and authentic.

Are you living the life you want? Is your relationship a source of pain for you? Are you arguing more, trusting less, or finding yourself not looking forward to spending time together? Maybe your relationship feels stuck, like you're just replaying the same disagreement over and over again. Do you not like the person you are when you're in a relationship or wonder why you keep repeating patterns in the type of person you date? Human beings are wired for connection, yet somehow the people we are closest with also seem to cause us the most pain.

I believe that for therapy to be most helpful, the client must feel comfortable in the relationship with the therapist.
Drawing from my background in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, CBT, mindfulness, somatic therapy, and dance/movement therapy, I use an eclectic approach tailored to your individual needs to help you overcome obstacles to leading a richer, more satisfying, and more meaningful life. Some of the things I can help you with are: anxiety, depression, relationship issues, family stressors, managing chronic illness, caregiver stress, body image, self-esteem, life transitions, artist's issues and creative blocks, panic attacks, trauma, and life changes.

Therapy is a complex process. The components of time and commitment are vital for clients in diving into their mental wellbeing. If you feel ready, I invite you with the assisted guidance from myself, to cultivate a deepened relationship with your SELF. Many of my clients have been supported through periods of depression, anxiety, life transitions, relationships, complex trauma and addiction. There is no judgement in our work together, as every person is different and full of their own unique experiences that has led them to where they are now. I also proudly identify as and work with the chronically ill community.

I have over nine years’ experience working with folks who have experienced codependency, substance use disorders, and process addictions, including relationship addiction.
I am committed to creating a soft, genuine, relational space for my clients to get to know their inner systems. I have a graduate degree in Social Work, and I am trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS). I have been engaged with the IFS model for over nine years, and it is the primary model I use for psychotherapeutic work. I have assisted as a staff member on three Level 1 IFS trainings, helping other therapists and practitioners learn the model.

In my practice, I encourage clients to explore how their identities and context influence their wellbeing, as well as how my identities and experience may influence our therapeutic relationship.
I specialize in work with LGBTQ+ adults seeking support with various kinds of life transitions, reintegrating difficult moments from the past into the present, and building confidence and self-efficacy. I work best with clients who are interested in defining clear goals for our work together, and who are seeking structured therapy sessions that address the goals we set while maintaining room for flexibility as our work changes over time.

Searching for a therapist can feel discouraging at times and raise endless questions. What exactly am I looking for? Will I feel understood? Would I even benefit from therapy? I believe that once you find the right fit, the transformative nature of the therapy relationship can help you find your voice and a true sense of direction. I approach therapy from a place of humor, curiosity and an honest desire to help you uncover those places where you feel most stuck in order to build the life that you want.

I practice in a relational and interpersonal way, meaning, I believe that a lot is uncovered through the therapeutic relationship itself.
It is not easy to find someone with whom to share your inner world. As a therapist, I seek to provide a secure holding space that can assist in containing those feelings, because I believe that having a judgement-free space to develop awareness is important to one’s mental health. In this process, I will help you explore all the different parts of yourself, even the ones that feel the most shameful or unwanted. This process allows you to gain a more dynamic sense of yourself by getting to know the parts that have been kept at a distance. I believe this work can help make the intolerable a bit more tolerable.

I value the creation of a safe and trusting relationship above all else.
Here’s what I believe: it can be really scary to get in touch with our emotions and needs, but when we avoid them, it wreaks havoc on our lives. We lash out, people please, numb out, run away, dissociate, or sometimes completely shut down. There comes a point, however, when we decide we want more out of life, and know it's time for change. Perhaps you’re at that point right now. If so, I want to offer you a warm welcome. In our work together, I will honor your resilience, hold your darkness with reverence and celebrate progress and possibility with you. We all need support sometime - we weren't build to do this alone.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
