I am happy you're here. The therapeutic process begins with the search for a therapist. The task can be intimidating and scary. Whether it be with me, or another therapist, you deserve help. I would love to help you find it. I will work to develop a nurturing relationship with you and I'll provide a safe place for you to be open and honest. I have experience helping clients cope with depression, trauma, anxiety, parenting issues, social struggles, self-esteem deficits, relationships, and other interpersonal concerns. Though I take a direct approach with my clients, I will meet you where you are.

Language & words matter. We define ourselves & our worldview with our words. How do we talk to ourselves? What does our inner critic sound like? Is that voice in your mind coming from you, or someone else? Is that voice supporting your goals, or keeping you stuck? The voice in our head and the words it speaks to us are habitual; it can cause a negative cycle if not explored. Therapy is an opportunity to engage in a healing relationship with that voice in your head. I am here to support you, guide you through that journey, and help break that negative cycle.

I am a passionate believer that we all embody the strength that it takes to heal ourselves. I have worked with clients from a variety of different backgrounds where I provide a collaborative, safe environment to help them recognize their strength and potential. I use a trauma-informed, holistic approach focused on addressing the root cause of clients' identified symptoms. I have a special interest in working with young adults as they navigate life transitions and discover themselves and their passions.

You're not sure when it happened, but you don't recognize the child sitting in front of you or the person looking back at you in the mirror. You want to feel happier, healthier, and more confident, but nothing seems to work. You feel stuck in the past, experiencing difficulties with enjoying the present, causing the future to feel hopeless. You feel so overwhelmed that you can't stop worrying and focus on work/school. You wish you could find the right words to let others know how you're feeling and the struggles you're facing. You just want to feel empowered to ask for help when you need it, hoping you don't have to do this alone.

You have probably tried therapy before, but you're still hurting. You still feel stuck. I work differently than traditional therapists - using Evidence Based Psychotherapies - treatments proven to work by research. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) are based in brain science. We can retrain your brain. We can work to build new coping skills and a different approach to emotional pain. Research shows these therapies work to help people like you feel more calm and connected to their lives. You can feel better. You can live better!

"Fear lives in the head. And courage lives in the heart. The job is to get from one to the other" - Louis Penny. It is inevitable that we will be wounded during the journey of life. Many of those wounds generally heal on their own. However some wounds cut deeper. They are unable to heal themselves and leave scars causing broken relationships, anxiety, addiction, insecurity, fear, and pain. Facing these wounds can be frightening and overwhelming, especially when facing them alone. Together we find the courage and strength to face and heal these wounds.

Sometimes, it feels like you just can't win. The world is becoming more complicated and nothing is easy. Sometimes, our previous traumas and experiences with shame guide our behavior; especially when we feel activated. Whether our family is estranged or our relationships have become strenuous we find ourselves looking for some type of consistency and stability.

I’ve always been fascinated by the butterfly effect because I find it relatable to therapy. The theory says small things can lead to large-scale changes in the future state. The concept is imagined with a butterfly flapping its wings and causing a typhoon. In therapy, it is easy to feel overwhelmed and making changes in life can seem daunting. My goal is to provide you with insight and teach you strategies that may have that effect on you. It can be hard to see the change you are making in the moment but when you look back, you realize all of those little things actually made a significant impact; thus the butterfly effect.

Does it feel like you go through the motions in life, unable to feel much joy? Maybe you numb yourself out with addictions, media, or other distractions. Often people, men in particular, believe they have to tough it out. They might not feel safe opening up and really getting to the bottom of their feelings. But going it alone gets lonely and tends to make things worse. I help people who want to feel better about themselves and overcome the issues that hold them back. I work with teen boys, young men, older men, and others who are looking for someone who can truly see and hear them.

Self Esteem Therapists
When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?
When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.
What are the signs of low self-esteem?
Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.
What causes low self-esteem?
Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.
How can therapy improve self-esteem?
Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
