Hi! My name is Amal. I see therapy as a collaborative effort between myself and my clients. As a queer black woman, my goal is to provide space for those like me and others who have felt silenced and marginalized a majority of their lives. I have a passion for working with women of color and LGBTQIA+ identifying folks. I offer evening sessions with my last appointment opening at 7pm in the hopes to accommodate for client's work schedule!

I am currently accepting new clients. I'm so glad you are here! I provide a compassionate, safe and non-judgmental space to talk about life’s challenges. I love working with children, teens, college students and families to help provide support and direction. I am passionate about helping people connect in healthy ways, healing wounds that prevent us from living a life that is fulfilling. Often childhood trauma or dysfunctional family systems can cause so much pain, that we struggle to even love ourselves, but there is hope and these wounds can be healed.

My approach to counseling is that of a “fellow traveler” who takes the journey alongside of you in a way that is calm, open, supportive, empathic, and actively engaged with you at all times. I bring a unique existential approach to counseling that helps you in the “here and now,” and daily lived experiences of your life. I work with couples and individual’s ages 13-70. I specialize in working with anxiety, depression, grief/loss, intimacy issues (physical and emotional), LGBTQIA issues, men’s issues, marital conflict, sexual addiction, and complex personal life struggles. I recently graduated with my master’s degree in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I have experience working with people across the lifespan with many different mental health needs in both inpatient and outpatient settings. I primarily work with individuals 16 years old and older who may struggle with anxiety, panic attacks, obsessions and compulsions, depression, attention deficit/hyperactivity (ADHD), autism spectrum disorder, gender identity, sexuality, life transitions, and stress.
