Hi there! My name is Maria. I grew up in New York and received my bachelors degree from Hunter College. I relocated to South Florida in 2014 to obtain my MSW from Florida Atlantic University. I am most passionate about eliminating the stigma associated with mental health disorders-especially in communities of color. I specialize in facilitating transformational healing experiences. My work focuses on targeting and putting an end to limiting beliefs while empowering individuals to become their own healers. I also specialize in issues surrounding adoption, primarily for adoptees, with a focus on transracial adoption.

Trained at the Renfrew Center of South Florida I have expertise in working with individuals and families dealing with personal, family or marital conflicts, eating disorders and addictions. I am a Supreme Court Certified Family Mediator and I incorporate Imago Therapy techniques in couples and marital counseling. I am a member of the American Counseling Association and a Nationally Board Certified Counselor.

After directing treatment facilities for adolescents as well as Substance Abuse/Mental Health programs for adults, I have dedicated myself to helping others to overcome emotional/behavioral problems and the difficulty they often experience with coping with feelings. I focus on strengths, build self-esteem and improve coping skills.
