From my experience, I continue to observe that mental health is the foundation of health. It has been a privilege to work with and learn from clients since 2005 in various settings. My strength-based approach allows individuals, couples and families to experience a safe environment in which to increase knowledge and awareness regarding emotions. Psychoeducation is a key at Aim Counseling. Knowledge is power and a means in which to learn how to be more in control of the abstract experience of emotions.

Dr. Walters earned a Ph.D. in Psychology from The University of Northern Colorado and a Masters degree from the University of Alabama. During her education Dr. Walters completed a variety of training experiences including working in a drug rehabilitation center, public schools, the University Mental Health Clinic where she provided counseling to families, couples, individuals, and children. Dr. Walters also worked in the Neuropyschology Clinic providing neuropsychological assessment. She completed a dissertation titled Traumatic Brain Injury Self Report: Identifying the Relationship between Personality and Risk Taking Behavior.

I became a mental health counselor or therapist- whatever you prefer to call me- but a person who believes that there are times in all our lives when we could use someone to help us work through whatever issues/concerns/crisis/problems we are facing to help us to work through them and come out in a more positive place on the other side.
