“…connection…the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they can give and receive without judgment; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship.
A major challenge for many individuals, couples, and families is creating and sustaining meaningful connections. Feeling connected to loved ones and friends, purposeful work, or creative endeavors is not easy. Sometimes people do not feel connected to themselves and need support in understanding their feelings and behaviors. Likewise, there are times when disconnecting from toxic relationships and activities is necessary and requires strategies and skills that are not easily acquired or encouraged by others. Stressful life transitions, traumatic events, addictive behaviors, and painful losses are concerns for many of my clients.

I specialize in working with individuals experiencing grief and anxiety. Grief can be a complex and challenging process, and I provide a supportive and nurturing space for clients to explore their emotions, find meaning in their loss, and gradually heal. Anxiety is another area of expertise, and I assist individuals in understanding the underlying causes of their anxiety and developing practical tools to manage and reduce its impact on their daily lives. I provide a nonjudgmental and safe environment where clients can explore their fears, develop self-compassion, and cultivate resilience.

The therapeutic relationship creates a unique space for patient and therapist to explore and uncover new possibilities for growth and change in areas that are of importance to the patient. I work collaboratively with patients to dislodge and free up deeply-embedded patterns of behavior and ways of relating to others that can keep us stuck and prevent us from moving forward, from achieving important goals, and from developing satisfying relationships that are nurturing and sustaining. Relationships are central to my work with patients, whether working individually, in couples therapy, or in a group.

Areas of care have been, but not limited to trauma and stressor related disorders, childhood abuse, anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship distress, and adjusting ways of coping.
I strive to work towards creating a space where you can radically accept who/where you are, while also working towards creating the life you want to live. A collaborative approach is used to explore developed behavioral patterns, emotional reactions, and instilled beliefs. Doing so can be an intimating yet a rewarding process, one I aim to walk alongside. I demonstrate a non-judgmental and supportive stance to assist you in identifying/strengthening your own internal resources.

Do you find it difficult to let go of painful feelings and unhealthy reactions even when you understand their roots? Are you anxious or on guard as you try to protect yourself even when you feel you *should* be happy? Sometimes overwhelming experiences get stuck in our bodies, and continue to determine our emotions, behaviors, and relationship styles despite our best efforts. Through a nurturing and interactive approach, I help individuals, families and groups shift out of these stuck places to create deep and lasting change.

Central to my approach is establishing a trusting, supportive relationship where you can feel seen, respected, and heard.
Finding a way to live authentically, and stay grounded as you navigate the uncertainties and unknowns of life can be very challenging. As a Gestalt, body-oriented psychotherapist, and dancer, I utilize evidence-based, embodied-relational, and collaborative approaches to help you find your way. I will meet you with curiosity, openness, and a nonjudgemental stance. I will support increasing your awareness of your strengths, gifts, and uniqueness, while collaborating with you to identify habits and patterns that are no longer useful or effective in helping you meet your needs.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
