The most important ingredient in therapy is the client/therapist relationship.
I have 40 years of experience doing psychotherapy. I have become particularly skilled at seeing what is happening with individuals, and between couples, and I share that so that you can understand what you are dealing with. We work collaboratively and creatively; I check to be sure my directions and suggestions are meaningful to you. I make sure that you are learning something significant about yourself in every session. You deserve the respect and support you need to go into uncharted territory. I care about my clients and my clients know it; that is the inspiration that keeps my work exciting to me.

I excel at helping people resolve issues related to Loneliness, Relationship Struggles, Emotional Sensitivity, Spiritual Embodiment, Reclaiming Masculinity, Emptiness, Inhibited Grieving, Differentiating from Parents, Sexual Trauma, & Unexpected Loss.
Therapy is effective when the therapist is guiding the client down a path that the therapist has already successfully completed. My heightened emotional sensitivity to myself and the world surrounding me led me on a journey of self-discovery where I learned to resolve my personal losses and access my power and intuition. Through the lessons of my resolved cycles of suffering, I have found consistent access to my emotional maturity and intuitive wisdom: Giving me the gift of living in the flow of life. Once I became grounded in the depth & flow of my being, I felt called to guide others who are on a similar journey.

Therapy should be more than telling yourself that things are okay when they're not. Therapy can bring healing to wounds that have lasted for years, and finding the right therapist for you is an important first step in that process. I specialize in treating depression, anxiety, trauma, difficult relationships, and identity challenges. As a trauma survivor myself, I understand both the depths of despair and the struggle to find yourself amid all your pain and loss. Don't give up on therapy if you've had bad or less-than-ideal experiences with therapy in the past. Each therapist is different, and you can find the right one for you.

As a therapist, my approach is eclectic, informed by psychodynamic, humanistic, mindfulness-based and cognitive behavioral practices. I view each client's life as a constantly shifting ecosystem, and I believe that successful interventions are multifaceted. I strive to cultivate cultural humility in myself, and to help clients understand and re-craft personal narratives according to their values. In addition, I help clients to navigate romantic and family relationships as well as friendships. One of my primary goals as a therapist is to understand the unique and varied challenges of the LGBTQ community; being "LGBTQ friendly" is not enough.

I focus on helping clients strengthen meaningful relationships, establish a sense of meaning and purpose, and foster connection in their lives. I help clients move forward using practical solutions while also developing an understanding of the underlying issues that contribute to their struggles. Coming to therapy gives you a place where someone will listen without judging you and offer new ways of thinking about yourself and your problems, and I welcome the opportunity to help you create the life you want to be living.

Life is hard right now. Have you ever wondered, "whose life is this and how did I get here?" Every life chapter has its challenges, but that doesn't mean you suffer and it certainly doesn't mean you go it alone. You have the answers inside you, just waiting to be unlocked. I can guide you to unlock your inner most discoveries. I help you to target the root cause of your problem, achieve the results you deserve, and experience lasting change in your life. When we achieve resolution at the source, you naturally experience a shift, a return to homeostasis, and the natural evolution into you.

I believe therapy is a collaborative process in which we will work together to determine your goals and then achieve them. Because I work both cognitive-behaviorally and psychodynamically, I am able to work with you on two different, but both very important levels depending on your goals. On one level, I can help you simply feel better and improve your coping skills. And on another level, and to the extent to which you are interested in doing so, I can help you understand the deeper roots of your symptoms and life patterns.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
