My passion and my goal is to help you identify the root of your presenting concerns, contributing factors, and how together, we can understand and formulate a lasting change that enriches your life. I believe everyone has the right to feel success and perform to his or her potential in school, work, at home, among peers, and in the community. I conceptualize and understand each person's unique story within the context of one's unique culture and life history. It is a privilege to be allowed to "walk" with clients on their journeys of exploration, understanding, and problem-solving.

My professional experience best equips me to work alongside teens and adults through their personal stories of anxiety, depression, difficult life transitions, and relationships to find growth through healing. I've continued to see the strength of resiliency in every individual and their capacity to motivate change. And I look forward to the opportunity to support new clients within the current chapter of their lives.

Life is about change and transitions. Sometimes you might feel stuck in stressful situations involving relationships either at home or in the work place. I believe that most human beings welcome and value the opportunity to be listened to in a respectful and accepting way. I consider building a trusting and successful treatment relationship as the centerpiece of my work.

Utilizing Psychodynamic Therapy, Person- Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy I’ve developed an eclectic approach to therapy because no individual is like another.
I believe everyone needs and deserves a safe space to address barriers preventing them from navigating through life the way they desire, thus I seek to foster safe and comfortable environments for those oppressed and marginalized. Living in unprecedented times, it is especially important to have support, awareness, and knowledge of effective coping skills to manage life's stressors. I believe it’s also important to process the lives we’ve already experienced and explore how this cultivates our current worldview.

I believe there are three major components to a well-balanced state of mind - they are Love, Purpose, and Value. If either is missing, you could experience some level of mental distress. I specialize in working with the average person trying to earn a living and take care of their family. I treat individuals who struggle with anger, depression, self-esteem and other interpersonal concerns.

The clients that I work with tend to be those who recognize a change is needed in their life or have heard from enough reliable sources to cause them to question the need for change in their lives. I equally enjoy working with both adolescents and adults. I have found a great deal of satisfaction working with teenagers and the unique problems they face growing up in today's world. I also have special interest in working with individuals and families whose lives have been affected by addiction or substance abuse as well as survivors of suicide.

Psychodynamic Therapists

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
