I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Masters of Science in Mental Health Counseling from National-Louis University with 24 years of experience. In addition to utilizing traditional therapeutic strategies, I have been trained as a certified Christian Mental Health Coach by the American Association of Christian Counselors, with the ability to offer Christian counseling to those who would like to incorporate their faith into their therapeutic process. I believe in working in concert with my clients to determine the best approaches necessary to help them achieve that state of mental/emotional wholeness in which they desire.

I am a Licensed Social Worker who enjoys working with adults and seniors. Many times, taking the step to enter therapy can be a difficult decision. Being able to acknowledge that life has become overwhelming and extra support is needed takes courage. Coming from the strengths-based perspective, I believe that everyone has the abilities and qualities to set and achieve goals to better their lives. Together we can work to develop healthy and effective coping skills to help manage life's stressors.

I believe the counseling relationship is significant in the healing process and I make it a priority to create a warm, safe environment in which each client’s unique story can be heard. Using insight oriented therapy to bring clients to better awareness, I also utilize cognitive behavioral techniques in helping clients reduce and manage any symptoms they may have. I use Christian principles as directed by each client’s faith journey. I love what I do and thank all of my clients for granting me the privilege of working with them and for teaching me more about life and perseverance.

During my years in the counseling field I've worked with depression, anxiety, adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse, trauma, self-harm, addictions, dissociative disorders, men's and women's issues, codepedency, communication, infidelity, grief and loss, boundaries, divorce, parenting, marital problems, eating disorders, life transitions, adjustment difficulties, and many other issues.

Martin Therapy Group has been helping kids, teens, young adults, adults, couples, and families find the support and help they need for over 15 years. We have two locations, in Palos Heights and Frankfort. Our therapists are compassionate and experienced, with training in areas such as Theraplay, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Clinical Hypnosis for smoking cessation, weight management, and pain issues, and the science-based Gottman Method for couples therapy. We work with the full life span from age 3 and up. Some of our therapists have previously worked in local schools as school counselors and social workers.

I have been thoroughly trained in trauma, specifically the effects of trauma on the brain, behavior, and relationships. These uncertainties may be from issues related to gender identity and sexuality, difficulties with body image, or feeling lost in the transitional stages of life.
