My years of experience prepared me to deal with issues related to marriage, family conflict, grief, divorce, self-esteem, substance abuse, trauma and much more.
The past few years have been unprecedented. People who have never sought mental health services before are finding themselves in need of emotional support and therapeutic intervention. People are dealing with anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts as well as a multitude of life stressors. I have worked in mental health services for the past seven years and saw firsthand how the pressures of today are causing individuals and families to find themselves at odds with their own world view. Some want answers on how to get to a new form of normalcy. It is clear that the world has changed and what worked before, may not work now.

I am a Bowen family systems therapist working with clients from the standpoint of your internal and external connections (partner, family, coworkers, and community). Because no one functions entirely alone, relationship problems can produce distressing symptoms that can often be alleviated by addressing the roles, rules, and goals we may be defining quite differently. Communication brings understanding. Faith in ourselves, in safe others, and in a benevolent Source that gives meaning to our experience are vital resources for the growing seasons of life that come to all. Phone me to discuss your situation; I'd like to be of help.

Abandonment / Abortion recovery / Anger management / Domestic violence intervention / Divorce care / Self care / Foster / Adoption adjustment challenges / Financial problems / Grief & loss / Interpersonal relationships / Marriage & family / Parenting issues / Premarital counseling / Pornography use / Prison / parole rehabilitation.
My typical counseling approach, and that of my colleagues at Homestead Hope Counseling Services, is anchored firmly and unapologetically in the Christian world-view. We do so with a clear, unwavering theistic paradigm that acknowledges God's sovereignty in all things, as He is intimately interested in, and responsive to, each person and all they experience. Therefore, unless otherwise directed by the client, our approach will inherently involve the use of biblical revelation and the principles found therein, when ever appropriate and applicable. The Christ centered world view is paramount to my approach to healing.

It matters how and with whom we struggle in life. We need someone who will struggle well with us. Christine works with women in life transition, premarital couples, young married couples, those struggling with depression/anxiety, and those dealing with difficult family situations. She believes that counseling is a life-changing experience when individuals are heard, deeply understood, and called to change by an empathetic listener. She creates a safe and hopeful environment where clients can explore growth, develop healthy coping skills, and emerge from old patterns of thinking and believing.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
