From the outside, you look like you have it all figured out, but inside you feel unsatisfied and highly critical of yourself and others. You find it difficult to fully relax because your mind wanders toward the endless list of things you “should” be doing. You often get caught up in thoughts comparing yourself to others. You may be struggling to feel fulfilled in your relationship with others, and more importantly, yourself. You’re driven, successful, & high-achieving. Everything feels great when things go as planned, but when things go awry, self-doubt creeps in and can show up as feelings of anxiety, depression, grief, & burnout.

I specialize in working with codependent women and men. Codependency is not always related to addiction, it is often referred to as a self-love deficit disorder because most codependent clients have a difficult time identifying and focusing on their own needs. They often spend a lifetime being people-pleasers, but eventually feel anger and resentment for neglecting themselves and not receiving the appreciation/love they desire from others. Breaking free from codependency requires individuals to step away from their denial, to honor themselves, and to set boundaries. Then they can love and nurture others in a healthy manner.

There are times in life when we all could use some help. You may be experiencing anxiety or grief after a change in life circumstances, or you may find that negative patterns in relationships with others are getting in the way of the life you want to lead. I approach clients from a highly individualized, strengths-based perspective. My counseling philosophy is grounded in acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), which helps clients identify and commit to their values; and cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which helps clients reframe patterns of negative thinking.

Being a person is hard. Big life events can make it harder and even daily care tasks make it harder. Sometimes, once we realize we need extra help, it’s hard to find the energy and courage to look for help, to ask for it. This is starting to sound like an endless cycle of things being hard and daily life feeling unmanageable – yikes! That’s where I come in! First thing you need to know: you are okay! I earned my bachelors in Psychology in Mexico City and a Masters degree in psychoanalysis. I then moved to Miami, FL to pursue another masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
