My specialty lies in trauma and complex trauma, dissociation, and co-occurring disorders.
Sometimes life throws you a curveball. If you are here it means you are hoping to change your life for the better. Maybe you are feeling disconnected from the people and things that are important to you. Maybe you feel like you are only living half a life. Sometimes your problems become the only thing that you can focus on, and the life you want to live seems a distant dream. What if there was a way to get unstuck from your problems and get back into your life? Whatever weight you are carrying, these struggles do not have to become your story.

Not many people can say, without a doubt, they know exactly where they are supposed to be. I am lucky enough to be one of the few. My place is walking through the fire with trauma survivors, sitting with people in their deepest pain, and if nothing more, holding space for anything that may come.

As an experienced grief and trauma counselor, I enjoy working with both children and adults.
Life sometimes leaves us with deep wounds which, left unresolved, can later appear in the form of depression, relationship struggles, anxiety, and anger. Putting on a mask for the outside world when you are falling apart inside is exhausting. With a non-judgmental lens, I see you as a person; not your past, not your actions, not your diagnoses. Are you ready to finally shed the mask and live your best life?

I enjoy working with people of all ages and consider my specialties to include trauma treatment, EMDR, school issues, Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), family issues, highly conflictual relationships of any type, self-injury, suicide ideation and attempts, "oppositional defiant" behaviors, and "stuck" living patterns, to name just a few.
I believe that the most important factor of success in therapy is the authentic relationship. I have a passion for learning about each client's talents and strengths and using those to increase their life satisfaction. I believe that all people have a desire to live the best lives they can live, and at times need support in identifying and eliminating the barriers that prevent them from doing so. I believe that trauma, whether from watching the daily news or experiencing combat in war, is at the root of many of these barriers.

I enjoy helping people who are navigating trauma, grief and loss, prenatal/postpartum distress, health changes, chronic pain, unsupportive systems, career changes, compassion fatigue and burnout, and identity exploration.
Each of us experiences moments in life when we are not sure what path to take. We may feel disconnected from our values, distant from those we most want to be close to, and out of balance in our daily rhythm. In the midst of overwhelm, we know something needs to change yet we may not easily see what that is. It may also be that we know what we want to change but we encounter challenges from others or from seemingly immovable obstacles in our world. At times like these, we need a wingman; someone who knows how to help us utilize our strengths so we can chart a course toward what matters most. I would be honored to be your wingman.

I specialize in traumatic experiences, childhood emotional abuse/neglect, anxiety and depression that stem from past trauma, and immigration stress/cultural trauma.
You struggle with the sense of not being good enough, the relentless anxiety and worries, low mood, feeling alone and lonely, and not belong. You suffer from the imposter syndrome, experience guilt when it wasn't your fault, and end up feeling resentment after constantly serving others' needs. You often make decisions based on fear and sometimes the voice of self-doubt blocks you from pursuing the life you want. You would like to feel happy and content in life, build self-confidence, stop worrying too much, enjoy relationships, and shake off the thought you should be doing more.

I specialize in the areas of trauma and abuse, sexual abuse, sexuality, depression and anxiety and couples counseling.
I believe that individuals are uniquely designed with an inner connectedness spanning our cognitive, physical, emotional and spiritual experiences. Because of this design, health and healing are best found through strengthening each of these interconnected elements of our being. My therapeutic approaches are based upon this belief. With couples, I use a hope-focused (strengths based) approach, while examining the family dynamics, or "systems" that are in effect. When working with individuals, I use Cognitive Behavioral approach (CBT), client-centered and systems approaches to holistically facilitate growth, healing and increased self-awareness.

I treat anxiety, depressive disorders, and specialize in the treatment of PTSD where I specifically use EMDR as a treatment approach.
Welcome to Thrive Behavioral Health! Thrive Behavioral Health is committed to assisting you in moving forward and making changes in your life. We seek to help people through empowerment. Often, individuals feel powerless to make needed changes in their life. As a result, they stop believing in themselves, give up, and stop taking the risks they need to in order to make change. Therapy looks different for every individual, but often the objective is to help motivate people to discover the inner strength and courage they need to transform their life.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
