I have spent the past 20 years helping adolescents (and their families) with the work of growing into healthy, happy adults. My background includes teaching high school, running a summer camp, school counseling, and directing September High School. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I have brought these experiences into my clinical work.

With over four decades of experience as an Addiction Specialist, Joseph brings a depth of clinical knowledge and perspective to his counseling practice that is rare. After 15 years of agency work, Joseph went into private practice in 1997. He obtained National Certification as a mental health professional and now combines his expertise with addictive processes with a holistic understanding of how these processes occur within a bigger milieu - often defined through unresolved grief and trauma. He has come to believe, that as human beings, we all have addictive tendencies that can connect us to deeper aspirations and dreams.

Forrest has sat with elders in their dying process, helped chauffeur young adults through the existential turmoil, and attended to the many others needs for compassion, authenticity, and simple humanity that many of us long for. In 2008, Forrest deployed to Iraq and witnessed first hand an incredible amount of suffering. This helped to awaken Forrest's heart to the dire need of care, compassion, and human kindness. Later, Forrest would go on to organize community events for homelessness, humanitarian crisis, healing through the arts and mindfulness practices. Forrest continues to strive toward a world of caring compassion for all.

Specializing in Teens & Young Adults: However isolated they appear, I hold a strong belief that young adult emotional and behavioral struggles are primarily a reaction to family influences. To fully support this population in reaching their potential, their challenges will need to be looked upon in the context of family, so to identify how such strife continues to be reinforced. This systemic approach to therapy paves the way for greatest insight to be gained by those who really matter, allowing for symptom reduction and ultimately greater relational harmony.

I am, first and foremost, a highly trained Christian Therapist. I love to work with couples, individuals and families helping to put an anchor back into their lives. For 3 decades I have sat front row and center in thousands of peoples lives. I have found that this is a most privileged position. My goal is to give my clients proven tools to learn to have healthy intimate relationships with those individuals who are most important to them.

Our work will involve exploring habitual patterns and looking at obstacles that have obscured the answers to your questions; we will work patiently, diligently, creatively and with humor to become more aware of them. We will work to mindfully loosen the grip of those obstacles, bit by bit, while exploring alternatives and options.

In addition to being a licensed psychotherapist, I am a certified Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner, a certified DARe (Dynamic Attachment RePatterning) treatment provider, a certified senior Addictions Counselor and a teacher of the Diamond Approach. I also have certifications in EMDR and Gestalt therapy. I have been adjunct faculty in the Graduate Counseling Psychology programs at Naropa University, and have assisted in professional trauma-resolution trainings domestically & . I have also provided consultation & clinical supervision for therapists and various agencies & hospitals in the Boulder/Denver area. I work with individuals, couples & groups and provide clinical supervision & consultation.
