I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience. I enjoy working with children and adults of all ages to help them achieve their therapy goals, and ultimately to lead happier and healthier lives.

As a licensed therapist and the founder of Makepeace Therapy, I have been working with individuals and couples for over 10 years. Throughout my life and in my practice, I have continuously experienced that people can heal from the suffering past trauma has created in their lives. I am so passionate about therapy because it allows for an incredible unfolding process to discover the root of our pain, change unwanted patterns and behaviors, and allow for the creation of the necessary changes that lead to living fulfilled, healthy, and joyful lives!

I help people who want help feel better about themselves, their lives and their relationships. Some seek my help because they engage in behaviors that interfere with their ability to enjoy their lives. Some seek my help because they feel "stuck in a rut," worthless, guilty or confused about their purpose. Some seek my help to improve or change their relationships or to grieve a break-up or death. Some just want a space where they can turn off their "devices" and turn inward or towards their loved-ones, in the presence of a trained professional who intends to heal.

We may feel stuck and ashamed at our inability to just will ourselves into being "better.” My aim is to make a space for you to feel empowered to process and create the change you hope to see in your life. I have experience working with adolescents and adults with depression, anxiety, relationship concerns, trauma, substance use, and other personal challenges. I have a warm and caring approach with my clients, and I value personal preferences in the therapy experience.

Kyra Haglund, LCSW, SEP, E-RYT, is a clinical social worker and Somatic Experiencing practitioner dedicated to working with adolescents and adults in individual and group therapy. She is an integrative therapist that draws on traditional psychodynamic and cognitive interventions, mindfulness practices, and somatic psychotherapy to meet the individual needs of each client. Kyra views therapy as an active process between client and therapist. Within the safe and compassionate environment of the therapeutic relationship, new perspectives on life's challenges and the ability to make healthier choices emerge. The underlying goal is to help the client live a more fulfilling life.

As a therapist for 30 plus years I have experience working with individuals and couples with varied backgrounds, cultures and ages. Many years working with people in Recovery (12 step and alternatives friendly) . Hsp's (highly sensitive) , women and men in transition.. challenged by depression, anxiety and panic, people in creative fields corporate professionals, LGBT. My experience as a cancer survivor, adoptive parent, artist/writer, and meditator enhance my work. I work with mindfulness. stress management and CBT . Very experienced with loss, grief and pet bereavement. I have advanced training in Trauma Resiliency Model

We all deserve a safe, compassionate space to process and explore, whether we are healing from difficult life events or simply taking a pause to reflect on our life. I deeply believe in holistic care, where the biological, psychological, cultural, sexual, and spiritual aspects of a person are given equal consideration and attention. It is my belief that healing comes from within you, and within the context of relationship. I practice Somatic Experiencing therapy, which focuses on positive psychology and the concept of healing at a biological and nervous system level (reconnecting the mind and body as one). I strive to help people become their own authority, which may have been compromised by unhealthy relationships, substance abuse, depression, and anxiety. I focus on the individual's relationship with themselves, fostering an understanding and compassion towards personal strengths and vulnerabilities. I believe it is imperative to address underlying issues with out judgment or shame, so that we can heal parts of the self that are no longer serving us. My clinical training is in psychodynamic therapy, and I tend to gravitate towards an attachment based and humanistic approach.

We often seek therapy when we feel overwhelmed, confused, or frustrated by feelings that we can't seem to get past. We begin feeling stuck and worry that maybe something is wrong with us, or that we'll always feel this way. While it can sometimes feel hopeless, this often happens because of interference from ideas, beliefs, or fears that we don't realize we're holding onto. Therapy brings these to light, increasing our understanding of ourselves and our situation, and creating the conditions needed to finally move forward.
