Ideal clients: Those in therapy or have been in therapy, on the front lines of their own self-work or are on the path of self-growth, who are transitioning out of unhealthy relationships and into healthy ones. Those for whom the quality of their relationships are front and center and are driven by their need and pursuit of connection. The people I work best are those who value their relationships above all else. All of the work I do is about empowering the transformation of their relationships by developing the relationship with your Self.

Successful psychotherapy is a partnership based on trust. People do change, becoming more truly themselves when they find the right, trained therapist and are able to talk freely. I listen to you with respect and you develop greater self awareness. This enables you to communicate more clearly, to reflect on difficult issues, and to let go of outmoded behaviors that do not further your deeper needs.

Make therapy a gift to yourself and the journey of a lifetime. Experience the therapeutic process as an exploration into a landscape full of your own creative capacities, strengths, and dreams that already exist. Replace out-dated belief systems with new ones that better reflect your current, authentic self. Continue the process of growing into the person you believe yourself to be. Move from the victim to the empowered. I work in collaborative ways with you, helping to identifying assumptions, thoughts, and beliefs that are keeping you from the experiences, relationships, and life that you want.

In my practice I am dedicated to working on the complexities of single life, creating and sustaining romantic partnerships, meaningful careers, and happier family lives. I believe in staying ambitious for our psychological, emotional, relational and material selves. In that pursuit, we will explore old patterns and worries that inhibit those ambitions. We will create new expectations, based on the evidence we gather about our ability to move ahead and lead more satisfying lives. The work happens through an exploration of current relationships, as well as sorting through the early emotional experiences that inform them.

Things are really hard right now - it is more important than ever to have support. That looks different for everyone, but whether it's parenting, relationship, work, family - or all of the above, create some space and a plan to walk through it - together. It is a journey of insight, compassion, respect, honesty, integrity and courage.

You've taken a big first step just by making it to this page. Even if you are just scrolling for now, good for you. Some people come to therapy to grow as a person or to build insight. Most people seek out therapy because they are in some pain. Their immediate goal is to make the pain stop as quickly as possible. I am much more interested in getting to know your pain than I am in getting rid of it ASAP. We need to know where the pain stems from, how you hide it and why it scares you. That way we aren't "fixing" your pain in this moment, but we are preparing for the next time life inevitably throws a version of that pain at you.

The most important journey you may make in your life is the journey of building an honest and compassionate relationship with yourself. From shame, pride, trauma, and introjected "shoulds" there are so many reasons that we often operate from a partial and compassionless understanding of ourselves. These blind spots can cause us anxiety, depression, addictions and a multitude of other symptoms that we mistake to be "who we are". I have faith in the human condition and the ability our heal into our own fullness. Therapy is the place to make this journey.

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
