I specialize in developmental & relational trauma, C-PTSD, anxiety-based disorders & LGBTQ+ issues.
Something very real and important has brought you here for help. Finding the right therapist and a human being you can trust can be challenging. I believe that you are the greatest expert in your own life; my role is to help you listen to that authentic and intuitive voice in order to bring about change. Underlying fears and beliefs about our own shortcomings can lead to emotions that become overwhelming, all-consuming and even paralyzing. Beliefs such as “I am not good enough,” “I am worthless,” "I am broken," or “I am a failure” result in suffering & missed experiences - holding us back from truly enjoying life.

I'm intimately familiar with the magic (and exhaustion) of being trans in a cisnormative society.
I hold unflinching space for folks wanting to survive and thrive outside the norms. Quirky oddballs, freaky queers, radical rebels, whatever trail you're blazing, you'll be celebrated here. It's an intense time to be alive and it takes guts to be yourself in a world that is often unkind. You may be navigating understandably scary questions about who you want to be, how to reconnect with your partner, or where to find reprieve from overwhelming stress. You don't have to do it alone. I will skillfully hold the tough stuff, while also supporting you in sowing seeds of joy, pleasure, and resistance.

When working with clients, I see people as unique individuals who are trying to find their own meaning for their lives and a purpose in life. Through therapy we can learn so much about ourselves and our goals which we might not even be aware of up to this point. Part of my belief in therapy is centered in the idea that each person is capable of reaching their desired self or achieving self actualization. I believe individuals and relationships are trying to find their best possible versions of self. In my practice I emphasize promoting communication and emotional awareness.

I believe in the importance of using my skills and voice to help empower my clients. I look forward to a long career in the mental health field where my community members, especially people of color, veterans, women, and individuals needing a cheerleader and advocate in their corner, can receive the care that they deserve. I want to understand the whole person and hope that everyone will soon be able to see themselves for who they are and not by what society or their diagnosis tells them. Seeking mental health treatment is a big step and I want to celebrate each person’s journey.

From personal experience, I know how hard navigating the ups and downs of modern life can be. Debilitating thoughts like, “I’m not enough,” become barriers to progression. This brand of negative self-talk often leaves one feeling stuck and using whatever means necessary to alleviate the pain. I work from a philosophy that all emotions are “good” emotions. Like positive emotions, hard emotions give you insight into who you are and what's important to you. I believe the answers to creating a life worth living reside inside each one of us. My job is to help you uncover your unique ability to manage the challenges life throws your way.

In a time where we are more aware of burnout than ever, it is necessary to find space for authenticity, play, and rest. My values as a therapist are based in the need to collaborate together for collective healing from the demands of our fast-paced world that prioritizes productivity over connection. Our goal together is to explore the interiors of the mind and body in order to shine a light on the ways we close off from ourselves and others, opening the path to live a more free and expansive life. In addition to talk therapy, I work with somatic practices, including Somatic Experiencing and Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy.

As a 2nd gen Asian-American born to immigrant parents, my cultural identity has been one of depth and confusion. Holding values from my parent’s home countries, mixed with my American values; it has widened my understanding of mental health from a cultural lens. I'd like to provide a space for those exploring their identities and culture and how it has played a part in your upbringing and development. I understand family values are important, but sometimes can conflict with our own individual goals and experiences. In the space, I hope you can feel comfortable to casually show up as you are. I am an intermediate ABCantonese speaker.

Hi, I'm Becca! I provide therapy to individuals ages 16+ who are experiencing grief and loss, relational challenges, stress, depression, anxiety, and the effects of trauma. I enjoy working with clients who are ready to dive deeper into exploring their relational and emotional patterns. Often the problems or "symptoms" we bring to therapy are protective adaptations that have helped us manage or survive past circumstances. I will support you in compassionately exploring all parts of yourself and in telling your story in a new way. Growth happens within warm, safe relationships and it is my sincere hope to offer this to you.

Life is full of transitions and challenges; one of the biggest is parenting. Whether it’s navigating a newborn, the tempestuous toddler years, potty training, or starting school, having someone to help you and your child succeed with minimum stress and decreased behavioral concerns is my specialty. Anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, and mental health affects the family as a whole and I’m sensitive to that. Parenting is hard enough. You don’t have to do it alone. Let me partner with you, your child, and your family on this bumpy road called life.

LGBTQ+ Therapists

Do LGBTQ-affirmative therapists receive special training?

Yes. Many therapists who practice LGBTQ-affirmative therapy have completed specialized training, either during their degree program or as continuing education, to learn the core principles of affirmative therapy and how to best support their LGBTQ clients; some have received certifications in LGBTQ-affirmative therapy. Prospective clients should inquire as to a clinician’s background and training to ensure a good fit.

Why might I want to see an LGBTQ-affirming or LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

Queer and gender-non-conforming individuals frequently experience bias and marginalization in day-to-day life. Working with a therapist who understands these unique challenges, as well as accepts and affirms their identity, can help LGBTQ clients feel safe and supported during therapy—allowing them to better navigate their relationships, mental health, and anything else that they wish to explore during therapy. It is important to note that many therapists can be effective in their work with LGBTQ+ individuals, even in the absence of specific training or background knowledge. The most important component in therapy is the alliance between therapist and client, and this alliance can exist between individuals with very different backgrounds.

How can I find an LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

You may wish to inquire about a therapist’s expertise with your specific challenges or concerns—depression, for example, or relationship strife—as well as their past experiences treating LGBTQ+ clients. Prospective clients may also ask whether a therapist has obtained additional training and/or certification in LGBTQ-affirmative techniques.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with LGBTQ issues?

Prospective clients should feel empowered to directly ask therapists whether they have received training or been certified in LGBTQ-affirming therapy; competent therapists will be happy to explain their educational background and preferred approach(es) to help a client find the best match for them. Clients may also wish to ask how a therapist has treated clients with their particular challenges in the past and what they expect treatment to look like.

Are all the therapists listed in the LGBTQ directory themselves members of the LGBTQ community?

While therapists may choose to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity in their profiles, the LGBTQ directory features not only those who have shared this information but also those who assert specialized training or experience in providing support to queer individuals, couples or families.
