Delilah Fortenberry, Counselor in Wesley Chapel
“How many times have you said to yourself, "Do I really need counseling?" " I can usually handle my problems". However, everyone goes through challenging situations in life, and while you may have successfully navigated through other difficulties you've faced, there's nothing wrong with seeking out extra support when you need it. In fact, couseling is for individuals/families who have enough self-awareness to realize they need a helping hand, and that is something to be admired. You are taking responsibility by accepting where you're at in life and making a commitment to change the situation.

“I view relationship problems from a systemic model. Meaning that I take into account environmental factors, relationship factors, family of origin, biological, mental, and spiritual factors when creating a treatment plan. From this approach new understanding and new solutions are opened up for the relationship a. Too often in our problem solving we try the same thing over and over and when it does not work we just try the same thing harder. If you find yourself stuck in that kind of cycle just know that there is help available.

North Tampa Depression Treatment Center, Treatment Facility in Wesley Chapel
“Depression is a mental illness defined by persistent feelings of sadness and a loss of interest in usual activities. The symptoms associated with this mood disorder interfere with the ability to work, sleep, eat, or enjoy what used to be pleasurable. Having major depression can be extremely disabling and prevent a person from engaging in normal day-to-day functions. While some individuals may only experience a single episode within their lifetime, it is common for others to experience multiple episodes. Dysthymia is a form of depressive disorder that lasts at least two years. Although the symptoms of dysthymia may not be severe enough to disable a person, they can still cause an individual to have trouble functioning normally. Minor depression is diagnosed when an individual has symptoms for at least two weeks, but they are not severe enough to meet the criteria for major depression. However, men and women with minor depression should still receive treatment because they are at a high risk for developing major depressive disorder. Depression is more than just a bout of the blues - it's not something you can simply snap out of. This disorder requires long term treatment for individuals to recover.

“Psychotherapy, is the treatment of individuals of groups of individuals, who may be experiencing emotional, behavioral, or mental illness problems, with "talk therapy", or verbal communication. The therapist job is to understand the client's problem and its root cause to help the patient change the distressing thoughts, feeling, emotions, and behaviors that contribute to an unhappy life. People often have tried to talk to friends or family about their problems, and although they may have their best interests at heart, is not enough to resolve the problem.
