I combine a warm and empathic attitude with careful listening and an active effort to understand more. Together, my patients and I clarify their goals, examine conscious and unconscious obstacles, and investigate new perspectives.
In my practice, specific issues I work with include life transitions, difficulties in relationships, self-defeating behaviors, and issues specific to the LGBTQI community. I see a diverse range of patients, and consider with them the significance of the many contexts (family, community, cultural, society) that inform their individual experiences.
As a relationally-oriented therapist, I consider it a priority to cultivate an atmosphere where my patients can feel comfortable to express themselves freely and explore their experience. I strive to do the same in my work with couples so that each member can learn to better identify feelings and improve communication with their partner(s).
