I work with individuals who are looking to have a new conversation about their life. Together, we will try to put into words what hasn’t been said before, and feel feelings that haven’t been felt. We’ll try to answer questions, and ask new ones; we’ll think aloud, and we’ll think in silence. Hopefully, as our relationship grows, you will feel comfortable sharing with me not only your joys, disappointments, frustrations, and anxieties outside the treatment, but even in it with me. The more you feel safe bringing to our work together, the more healing it will be. My number one priority is creating a space where you can be who you are.
As your therapist, I hope we can explore together what your symptoms may be communicating, what secrets they hold, and paradoxically, what problems they may be attempting to solve. Oftentimes, when we try and push something down, it reappears elsewhere: in our relationships, in our jobs, in our words, in our dreams, in our bodies.
By slowly allowing these parts of ourselves more space in our minds, we feel better, more in touch with ourselves, more capable of loving, and more capable of living. It takes courage to show up to therapy. It can be hard. It can be moving. It can be funny. It can be surprising. Whatever it may be for you, I welcome you to begin.
