I have noticed that in many fields, we speak specific languages. I will provide counseling in plain language, minimizing the 'psychobabble'. I spent considerable time in a few diverse fields. I grew up in a 'show business' family, spent over 40 years in electronic, RF and HVAC engineering, over 10 years in ministry to name a few.
Many of us grew up under the impression that internal stuff shouldn’t be discussed – it should be swept under the rug. This is perhaps the single worst thing you can do for yourself. Stamping down your emotions and not working through your psychological issues – especially serious pain or abuse in the past, can culminate in a host of problems. (Walton, 2014)
