I am a Somatic Experiencing™ trauma therapist in the Metro Atlanta area and have dedicated my work and research on the intersection of trauma and resiliency. I specialize in the treatment of Complex Trauma, Stress Disorders, Betrayal Trauma, PTSD, and other forms of trauma like divorce, life changes, cancer or developmental or intergenerational. When trauma or difficulties occur, it feels as if the ground under our feet has been blown away. I use a somatic body approach that helps you release the hold of your "fight/flight/freeze" response so you can begin to reframe your life story and regain a sense of grounding under your feet.
I believe that excavating resources of resiliency after suffering, is our innate birth right and is the path to our health and wellbeing. We have the ability to cope with whatever life throws at us and confidently bounce back. I have extensive training in somatic trauma, somatic and analytical meditation methods to teach you how to recover and heal.
I have a Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Appalachian State University, graduated Summa cum laude in 2001, and studied community mental health with extended emphasis in systems, trauma and meditation. Healing Ground Realization Process
The Healing Ground is a 6-week group or 2-day weekend retreat, working with the aspects of the Realization Process developed by Dr. Judith Blackstone. It will incorporate a synthesis of movement, body-oriented meditations, depth psychology, and somatic release techniques. It aims to help individuals cultivate complete embodiment, create healthy separation between self and others (boundaries), reduce or release trauma imprinted constrictions and integrate fragmentation caused by trauma over one's life experience and increase overall resiliency and vitality. *This group is not suitable to individuals in active crisis or suicidality. **See website for start date and registration.
