I understand that talking to someone you don't know about personal issues is difficult, so I do my best to create a safe and relaxed environment. I primarily work with individuals coping with anxiety issues, depression, borderline personality disorder, bipolar d/o, those on the autism spectrum, self-worth and relationship issues. I have a personal interest in working with veterans, college students and individuals struggling with LGBT+ issues. I'm a pretty authentic, honest person, and I like to find and highlight your strengths, especially when you struggle with that.
I hold a Master's degree from Bryn Mawr College and have 18 years of post-Master's clinical counseling experience in individual, group, couples and family therapy. I am currently the Director of Counseling Services at a local university, and I am licensed to practice counseling through the PA Department of State.
My counseling approach is person-centered and rooted in a strengths and recovery perspective. I utilize components of CBT, DBT (160 hours training under Dr. Kate Comtois/University of Washington Medical Center), EMDR (training through EMDRIA), MaryEllen Copeland's WRAP program, Mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing while conducting sessions.
