In many ways good psychotherapy is like a successful remodel, frequently resulting in a stronger and more spacious sense of one's self, lovely new rooms, remarkable views and better access to the world outside (and in). The journey of self-discovery takes courage, but increasing one's awareness of old limitations and obstacles, and developing the ability to gently and carefully dismantle and rebuild where necessary is incredibly rewarding -- often beyond what we can imagine.
I believe that it's a collaborative journey on which we embark, moving together towards creating a more fulfilling and rewarding life for you.
I provide a gentle but secure base from which we can explore, identify and begin working with behavioral patterns, coping styles, dreams, wishes and other unconscious material that may be influencing your world. With children, I also use play therapy and art as tools to enter the child's world.
My strengths and experience are varied: grief & loss (prevalent in so many of life's transitions); working with children & adolescents (more than 20 years in schools and hospitals); treatment of addictions (drugs, alcohol & problematic behaviors, i.e. gambling, eating, sex...); and anger, trauma (including domestic violence and sexual abuse).

This group is designed to target the specific needs of the 'sandwich generation’: those who are simultaneously nurturing the growth of children and attending to physical or mental decline in their parents. Caregivers are often pulled by competing forces that leave them little time for self-care, reflection and nurturing support. If this description resonates for you, consider carving out special time just for yourself on Friday afternoons to be part of this group.
