I have been a counselor for 20+ years. I work with most substance and/or process addictions, my favorite work being with people dealing with compulsive sexual behavior. I have trained with Pia Mellody and embrace her work on Developmental Immaturity. I am in recovery myself, for 33 years, and enjoy helping others who want to overcome their addictive behaviors. I believe in the importance of treating the underlying childhood issues as well as building a 12-step based recovery. I help people free themselves from isolation and shame caused by addictive behaviors and reengage in their lives from a place of sobriety, peace and joy.
I worked with Dr. Patrick Carnes at The Meadows and became a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) so that I could help those dealing with compulsive sexual behavior. I am also trained in EMDR and ART to address trauma issues. My training and work with Pia Melody, using her model of Developmental Immaturity continue to inform my work.
Having dealt with my own addictive behaviors I believe I have an understanding of what addicts face as they enter a recovery process and can offer my experience, strength and hope to others, beyond just a 12-step program. I am LBGTQ+ inclusive and affirming. I also help people addressing issues with managing anger.
