A certain amount of stress, sadness, and anxiety is expected in our lives. As a licensed psychologist, I am here to help you cope with life's challenges, learn about yourself, and change problematic thoughts and behaviors. I favor cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) because of its proven effectiveness in treating the problems that I most commonly see, including anxiety, stress, depression, and chronic pain/illness. It is based on the premise that the way we think directly affects how we feel and act.
CBT focuses on identifying and challenging automatic, self-defeating thoughts that lead to emotional distress and problematic behaviors, and replacing them with rational, healthy thoughts. Through our work together, you will learn to monitor your thoughts and, in turn, feel more in control of your life.
My approach is active, non-judgemental, and supportive. I want you to feel comfortable and collaborative with me and your treatment. My ultimate goal is to help you develop the tools and insight to create lasting positive changes in your life.
