Over twenty years as an ordained minister and equestrian I noticed how horses were helping me, so I developed Integrative Equine Therapy. In a non-clinical environment, a horse and IET Therapist create a safe space. We guide, encourage and support you in removing blocks, building new neural pathways from the trauma center to the conscious part of your brain, making it possible to respond rather than react to triggers. We call this "shifting perspective." With IET, you can find clarity of purpose, meaning and joy. Brown University's independent data on our therapeutic approach shows the success of IET. We work with all ages.
Some of the most impressive current research has found that using horses in therapy is both faster and more effective than talk therapy alone. Interactive Equine Therapy has proven successful for anxiety, depression, and various trauma, including PTSD, and pre-verbal trauma. Our clients often remark on how quickly they find relief of their symptoms.
Beachwood clients work in 90 minute sessions with our highly trained warm-blood horses, bred and selected for their sensitivity, intelligence, and the strength of character required for this work. Our barn and pastures are located in a country setting near the ocean within easy driving distance of Boston, Providence, Newport, and Groton, Connecticut.

Anxiety is the most contagious affect in the human experience. In our world today, it's no wonder so many of us are experiencing chronic anxiety. At Beachwood, we help you shift perspective to heal anxiety. Many find this process quite transformative, and are pleasantly surprised at how well it works. Come and discover strength through connection. Groups run for 6 sessions and space is limited, so please contact us for more information at (401)-788-9110. For adolescents (ages 15-18) this group meets Thursdays from 4-5:30 pm and for adults (19+) Thursdays from 6-7:30 pm.
